Report: Bandai Namco Developing Metroid Prime 4

Nintendo has not officially revealed who is working on Metroid Prime 4, but Eurogamer reports "multiple sources" confirmed to them that Bandai Namco is at the helm.

Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, a development branch in the company, is reportedly working on the game, and even has staff from ex-LucasArts Singapore - which worked on the cancelled Star Wars 1313 title - on board, Eurogamer says. This is the first bit of news on Metroid Prime 4 since it was announced during E3 2017.

Mario Kart Tour Will Be Free-To-Start

Mario Kart Tour, the mobile Mario Kart title announced by Nintendo in a brief press release, will be free to start, according to DeNA CEO Isao Moriyasu.

Nothing is really known about the title aside from the tour and now the information that the game will have no upfront cost to download, but Moriyasu did confirm that Nintendo is developing the game with DeNA handing infrastructure and servers. While Nintendo's mobile monetization policies have differed greatly, the only other title that Nintendo has called "Free to Start" was Mario Run. In December, Nintendo confirmed Mario Run had not generated an acceptable profit.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has said that they prefer to make their more mainstream mobile games single-cost titles rather than Fire Emblem Heroes' gacha mechanics which encourages frequent purchases.

Twitch Updates Community Guidelines About Monitoring Toxic Behavior

In the wake of some Overwatch League players' controversial banter and Blizzard's disclosure of searching for toxic players outside of reports within Overwatch, Twitch has updated its community guidelines with a similar approach toward qualifying conduct and harassment that merits banning from the streaming platform.

The new guidelines state that since "The Twitch community is also at conventions, TwitchCon, Twitch Community Meetups, and even social media," the company will, "take them into consideration when it comes to our role in keeping the community safe." This means that if Twitch users are caught abusing others via other platforms such as YouTube or Twitter, this will be justifiable grounds for punitive actions. Anything derogatory associated with race, religion, sex, disabilities, and other sensitive issues will factor into Twitch's assessment of who they temporarily or permanently remove. You can read the full list of what counts as harassment and hateful conduct through this link.

Laser League Dashes To Steam Early Access, Gets Limited-Time Discount

Laser League, an indie game on PC from the developers behind OlliOlli, is now available to download in Steam Early Access.

This vivid title with aesthetics heavily inspired by Tron features a top-down view of players competing in one of 12 arenas set in three stadiums. Using various classes, the objective is to eliminate the other team with abilities, power-ups, or by knocking them into a grid with the opposite color of your team. Matches can be played locally with up to eight players split into two teams, or online with two-on-two or three-on-three bouts.

Laser League will be discounted to $10.49 for a "limited time." There is no specific date for when the sale goes away, but the price will go back to $14.99 afterward. As with any title in Steam Early Access, the developers are taking feedback from players to fix and polish the game before its final release.

Overwatch's Lunar New Year Event Commences With New Trailer And Patch Notes

Blizzard has set off the fireworks of Overwatch's Lunar New Year event. In the accompanying trailer released today (which you can view below), the exclusive capture-the-flag map, Ayutthaya, is shown off with its tranquil Taiwanese setting. There are six new legendary skins to collect for Pharah, Genji, Zarya, Widowmaker, Mercy, and McCree, along with a couple new emotes, highlight intro, and the usual icons and sprays.

As explained in vaguer details in an Overwatch video update with Blizzard vice president Jeff Kaplan, CTF will be receiving big changes in how players can escort flags back to their respective areas. Practically any abilities that enhance a character's mobility are disabled when a flag is picked up, so Reinhardt cannot charge and D.Va's boosters are disabled. Sudden death (to prevent draws) and several time alterations to flag retrieval and dropping have been implemented as well, which you can read in more detail with the patch notes by clicking here.

Venom Slings Its First Teaser Trailer

Venom Slings Its First Teaser Trailer

Sony has released a teaser trailer for its Spider-Man spin-off movie, Venom, starring Tom Hardy.

The teaser mostly shows Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock/Venom, being chased on foot and motorcycle, with a narrator talking about how everyone has a bad "thing" happening in their lives and how Brock is now "something else." We are also shown a government entity investigating a crash site, which is presumably where the symbiote is discovered and later put into a container. The symbiote is what attaches to Brock and transforms him into Venom, a popular character in Spider-Man comics that originally was a villain and has become an anti-hero in recent years.
