Monster Hunter World And Dragon Ball FighterZ Ascend January U.S. Sales Rankings

The first sales numbers from 2018 show Capcom's Monster Hunter World and Dragon Ball FighterZ, both games releasing on January 26, are the best selling games of the month.

The two Japanese titles were strong contenders to come out on top, as they were the most significant retail releases so far in 2018. Dragon Ball FighterZ had the strongest debut of any Dragon Ball game in the U.S. since Dragon Ball Budokai on the PlayStation 2 in 2002. Monster Hunter World was the best selling title overall, while also topping both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sales rankings, cementing it as the best debut in the series in the west.

Capcom has previously stated that Monster Hunter World is the fastest selling game in the publisher's history.

Luigi Update, New Costumes Coming To Mario Odyssey This Week

It seems Luigi is bringing more than time trials with him in a new update for Super Mario Odyssey.

Nintendo of Australia originally had a link that went to the update's page and announced it's available to download February 23, but it has since been taken down. However, Twitter user Nibellion still has the original link and saved a few pictures that reveal new costumes for Mario. Additions to the plumber's wardrobe include a swanky suit, a "Hawaiian" shirt boasting Shine Sprites from Super Mario Sunshine, and knight armor.

Luigi's Balloon World is a competitive balloon-finding challenge mode. Players will have 30 seconds to hide a balloon. After that, players have the same amount of time to find that balloon. New filters for the game's photo mode will be added as well.

Norway Regulators: Nintendo's Eshop Refund Policy Is Breaking European Laws

Nintendo have run afoul of European regulators with its eShop return and cancellation policies; which is to say, Nintendo does not allow either of those things, and that doesn't fly in Europe.

The Norwegian Consumer Council has accused Nintendo of practices that violate European law with its very strict no-refund policy. In a letter published online, the Consumer Council harshly condemned pretty much every digital storefront, worst of all Nintendo, for inadequate digital rights compliance. From the summary:

Nintendo's policy of "all sales are final" explicitly goes against European laws for digital purchases. While other services might also not have consumer-facing refund procedures, they do perform limited refunds through customer service, which Nintendo reportedly not do. The letter petitioning Nintendo points out that Nintendo cannot enter into a contract with consumers that bars them from exiting or dissolving the contract before the game is even released.

Third Jurassic World Movie Releases June 2021

A third Jurassic World movie has been confirmed by the official Twitter account, with a release date of June 11, 2021.

The announcement comes a little under half a year before the release of the second Jurassic World movie, subtitled Fallen Kingdom, which itself releases on June 22, 2018. You can chart your major life events by Jurassic World movie releases.

The first Jurassic World movie was released on June 12, 2015. Director Colin Trevorrow chose not to direct Fallen Kingdom as he committed to Star Wars: Episode IX, though he did write the dinosaur sequel. Trevorrow then parted ways with Lucasfilm as director for Episode IX and was replaced by The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams. It is possible, in a bit of odd irony, that this could free up Trevorrow for the third Jurassic World movie.

Payday 2 On Switch Is A Year Behind Other Versions In Content

On the Payday subreddit, fans have been investigating streaming videos of the Switch version of Payday 2 and have come to the conclusion that the Switch version is massively out of date compared to the other versions of the game.

The Switch version of Payday 2 is fast approaching, but surprisingly little footage or information of the game has been released. When a copy of the game leaked out early and began to hit gaming streaming channels, fans of the game were obviously quick to pore over every detail, and have determined that the Switch version was missing a number of the latest updates. Analysis of the footage placed the Switch version at Update 117, compared to the PC versions 172.

Update 117 was released in October 2016.

Overwatch League Viewers Can Now Earn Skins, Emotes, And More Just By Watching

The second stage of Overwatch League kicks off today, and people who tune in to the matches on Twitch have a chance to earn virtual League Tokens, in-game rewards, and more just by watching. Overwatch League and Twitch state this new program will "represent the future of the online experience for esports fans."

The program begins with something called Overwatch League Cheering, a Twitch-based feature that rewards players for cheering with a virtual item called Bits. Viewers who participate with Bits can unlock limited-time Overwatch League home-team hero skins, emotes, and team-branded items. Your Bit usage is also tracked via a leaderboard that shows who has cheered the most. Bits are a service-wide item for Twitch, and can already be used to support affiliates and partners. Viewers can earn them in various ways, or purchase them outright. To use a Bit, you simply need to type "cheer" into the chat along with the number of Bits you wish to use.

Ys Origin Coming To Xbox One

DotEmu has been behind several remastering projects, including the likes of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Windjammers. Another title the publisher took on was bringing Ys Origin from PC to PlayStation platforms last year. Now the beginnings of the Ys storyline can be experienced by Xbox One players this spring, which marks the first time the action-RPG series has graced a Microsoft console.

This marks a series of bold projects that the French publisher is undertaking this year, which has bigger announcements in the near future regarding "reviving retro franchises." There are no confirmed alterations to this port with the updated visuals and effects.
