Homecoming Marks New Beginning For Gwent

Marcin Iwiński, the co-founder and joint CEO of CD Projekt Red, announced that they will spend the next six months focusing on Gwent Homecoming, a development cycle that will end the beta period for Gwent and move into a full-fledged launch. Along with two major updates planned for April and May, Gwent Homecoming will conclude with the launch of Thronebreaker, a new single-player campaign that ties even further into the story of the Witcher world. You can find all of the information on Gwent Homecoming on Gwent's website, but here are some of the key pillars that Iwiński has outlined.

Our TakeTransparency like this is never a bad move, especially as a developer grinds towards ending a beta and moving onto a full release. CD Projekt Red has been working on the Witcher franchise for over a decade and while the tale of Geralt may have come to a close, games like Gwent could give the studio plenty of opportunity to continue building the lore and the community for years to come.

Star Wars: Battlefront II Adds Ewok Hunt Mode

Star Wars: Battlefront II Adds Ewok Hunt Mode

DICE has announced a new limited-time mode for Star Wars: Battlefront II that pits Storm Troopers against their greatest nemeses: Ewoks.

The mode, which is part of the Night on Endor update on April 18, has the muppet-like native Endorians ambushing the hapless Imperial Storm Troopers trying to survive the attack. From DICE's explanation of the new mode:

"In Ewok Hunt, you start as an Ewok or in a group of stormtroopers. The ambush begins as Ewoks attack unsuspecting stormtroopers, using spears, Wisties, and other skills to take down their opponents. Each stormtrooper defeated spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire’s forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin. However, the stormtroopers’ superior training and firepower are more than a match for the Ewoks. Armed with a cadre of weapons as well as flashlights to pierce the darkness, players must hold back the Ewok’s ambush if they have a hope of surviving until an extraction team can arrive."

Ubisoft Explains Why Call Of Juarez Games Were Delisted From Online Stores

Ubisoft Explains Why Call Of Juarez Games Were Delisted From Online Stores

About two weeks ago, a few Call of Juarez games, most notably Gunslinger, were delisted from console and PC online storefronts. At the time, we sought comment from Ubisoft, who today sent us an explanation.

"Per the terms of agreement, Call of Juarez The Cartel and Call of Juarez Gunslinger licensing/publishing rights have reverted back to Techland, while others remain active with Ubisoft," the company's PR told us. "This is why a few titles have recently been removed from Steam, but it is our understanding that Techland is working to bring those titles back, so please feel free to reach out to Techland regarding status.”

There are no firm plans in their statement and it doesn't seem to indicate that Ubisoft is seeking to reacquire the licenses and publishing rights involved, so the games returning to digital stores is seemingly entirely in Techland's hands. That said, if you already own the games, you should have no problem redownloading, but new buyers may have to purchase a key elsewhere.

Minecraft Switch Has Xbox Achievements

Minecraft Switch Has Xbox Achievements

While it has been known that using Minecraft's Better Together update would require Switch owners to make an Xbox Live account, apparently that account also allows access to a lot of what having an Xbox Live account entails, like Achievements.

The discovery was first found on Twitter by Patrick Maka, a youtuber and content creator, and by achievement tracking site TrueAchievements. Maka found an achievement list referring to the Switch version that was otherwise identical to the achievements found on Xbox systems and mobile platforms.

The achievements were later confirmed by Polygon.
