For The New Horizon Zero Dawn Game, You'll Need A Tabletop

Steamforged Games is no stranger to adapting video games to a tabletop setting; it handled both the Dark Souls and Resident Evil 2 board game conversions. Both of those games have a serious lack of robot dinosaurs though, so the studio's next project is an adaptation of Guerrilla Game's smash hit, Horizon Zero Dawn.

The project is still very early in development. Despite official collaboration with Sony and Guerrilla, the game will still be funded through an upcoming Kickstarter campaign. However, based on Steamforged's history (Dark Souls and Resident Evil 2 far exceeded their funding goals), the success of this adaptation is virtually guaranteed.

Both Dark Souls and Resident Evil 2's tabletop versions have featured unique takes on cooperation and a whole suite of detailed figurines. Based on the target renders in Steamforged's announcement, Horizon Zero Dawn's iconic creatures will be satisfyingly miniaturized. Whether the game will be competitive, cooperative, or some mix of the two is as-yet unknown.

GTA Online/Red Dead Redemption II Crossover Continues With Stone Hatchet

Red Dead Redemption II is bound to be filled with deadly scoundrels, predators, and assorted ne'er do wells. It only makes sense that you'll want to be as prepared as possible before you head out into the wilds. Rockstar has created another crossover between its two big franchises, which could help give players a little edge – and pass the time until Red Dead II's October release date.

GTA Online players can accept a series of new bounties from Maude Eccles from their iFruit phones. Once they're all taken care of (dead or alive, of course), the location of a new stone hatchet will be revealed. Collect it, and it's yours. If you complete its associated kills challenge, you'll earn a cool $250,000 bonus of in-game currency, and also unlock the weapon for use in Red Dead Redemption II.

It's similar to last year's double-action revolver challenge.  If you missed out on that one, don't worry – Rockstar is giving players another chance to earn the weapon, so keep an eye open for an in-game text that will tell you how to get it.

Update: EA Says Editing Out Colin Kaepernick's Name From Madden Lyric Was A Mistake

Update 7:18 p.m. CDT – We received comment from EA.

“We made an unfortunate mistake with our Madden NFL soundtrack. Members of our team misunderstood the fact that while we don’t have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn’t affect soundtracks. We messed up, and the edit should never have happened. We will make it right, with an update to Madden NFL 19 on August 6 that will include the reference again. We meant no disrespect, and we apologize to Colin, to YG and Big Sean, to the NFL, to all of their fans and our players for this mistake.”

The original story from 5:04 p.m. CDT is as follows:

Popular Board Game Gloomhaven Coming To PC

Gloomhaven, the popular four-player board game, is getting a PC port later this year. The news comes from Gen Con, where purveyor of digital board games Asmodee Digital announced the port to Steam.

If you're unfamiliar with Gloomhaven, it is commonly considered one of the best board games period. It has sat on the top of user rating charts since its release in 2017 and has one numerous awards. The 10-pound box lets players use 17 playable classes across 95 unique scenarios in a tile-based tactical skirmish game.

It does seem like Asmodee Digital wants the PC version to be more of an adaptation than a straight port of the board game, but that might be better for it in the end. We'll find out when the game releases late this year.
