Reader Discussion – What's Your Favorite Telltale Game?

Just a couple days ago, word spread quickly online that Telltale was facing huge layoffs and closing down the majority of its studio. It came as a shock to most, since the developer had several projects in the works, from continuing The Walking Dead, creating its own take on Stranger Things, and had plans to rekindle The Wolf Among Us.

The news, especially for the majority of the studio that was laid off unexpectedly, is devastating. I'm devastated because Telltale helped inspire me to pursue video games as a career. Yes, the format of their games began to be a tired concept, but some of their storytelling was the best I've seen for the interactive medium.

I remember playing through The Walking Dead S1 several times with friends because I wanted them to see how brilliant it was too. I remember my jaw dropping at the end of The Wolf Among Us.

Bethesda Lets 12-Year-Old With Terminal Cancer Play Fallout 76 Early

Wes, a 12-year-old boy from Virginia, didn't think he would get a chance to play Fallout 76. Battling stage four neuroblastoma (a rare form of cancer), doctors recently told Wes' family that they thought it was best to end treatment.

With Fallout 76 only coming out in November, Wes was unsure he would ever get a chance to play the game he'd pre-ordered. That is, until Bethesda made it possible. A Facebook post from Wes' parents details how Bethesda's assistant director Matt Grandstaff drove four hours from the company's headquarters to Wes' home.

Grandstaff brought with him a copy of the game, along with a prototype of the Power Armor helmet that is due to release with the Power Armor Edition of the game – and to top it off, it was signed by Todd Howard.

Batman: Arkham Knight Hides Some Interesting Secrets Behind The Cameras

Batman: Arkham Knight is one of the best superhero games ever made, but like most high-budget games, it's cobbled together using lots of tricks you don't get to see if you play the game normally. Luckily, there are other ways of seeing how those tricks unfold.

Youtuber Shesez is back with another episode of Boundary Break, which this week tackles some of the behind-the-scenes secrets of Rocksteady's final Batman outing. Some of the secrets include a mysterious orb inside the room where Joker is placed in the incinerator, what happens to someone who goes into the Batmobile, and how the scene with Oracle plays out from another angle. It also confirms that Scarecrow is in fact in the scene where you encounter him for the first time for its entire duration, and not just when the animation where you launches his hallucinogen at you in the diner plays out.

Amnesia: Collection Coming To Xbox One, Adding Hard Mode For The Dark Descent

Amnesia: Collection Coming To Xbox One, Adding Hard Mode For The Dark Descent

Amnesia: Collection, which brings the three Amnesia offerings (The Dark Descent, DLC Justine, and A Machine For Pigs), is finally coming to Xbox One, and it's bringing a new mode with it.

Hard mode, which will only be available for the Dark Descent, makes a number of changes to the base experience, which should prove to be a real thorn in your side as you explore Brennenburg Castle. Autsaves are gone, and manual saves cost four tinderboxes, which, along with oil, are harder to come by. Losing sanity, which normally causes your character to fall down for a short period at its worst, can now cause you to die. Monsters are also faster, more alert, deal more damage, and are no longer accompanied by music letting you know they're nearby.

The mode comes with a new achievement, Masochist, for completing the mode. Of course, the mode will also come to PC when the Xbox One launches on September 28, and, according to developer Frictional Games, should hopefully be on PS4 by the end of the year.
