Spider-Man Has One Of The Highest Platinum Trophy Completion Rates For A Major PS4 Game

Spider-Man is one of the year's most popular games, having sold faster than anyone Sony title to date. A game this wide-reaching usually has tons of players who pick the game up casually, then put it down after completing the main story, if they get that far. But as it turns out, the game seems to have its hooks (or web, or whatever) into players pretty thoroughly.

User Certinfry on message board Restera has pointed that Spider-Man is currently sitting at a 10 percent platinum trophy rate, which means that one out of ten players has gotten every trophy in the game. That might sound low, but digging through my personal trophy history and looking for similar completion rates for PlayStation 4 exclusives, it's in the lead by a long shot. Here are the platinum trophy rates for some other recent and not-so-recent major PS4 games.

Of course, there are games with much more common platinum rates. Undertale, for example, sits at 21.4 percent. And there more  But for games of the size and scope of a game like Spider-Man, 10 percent is fairly impressive.

If you've been playing Destiny 2: Forsaken's Gambit mode regularly, you might be frustrated by two particular aspects of it: The overwhelming popularity of a gun called Sleeper Simulant, and the way a particular quest for an exotic weapon has affected how dedicated players are (or aren't) to sticking around for a match. Bungie hopes to alleviate both of those frustrations before the end of the month.

The quest to acquire the exotic hand cannon Malfeasance is tied to the appearance of a mean little thing called an ascendant primeval (pictured above). It spawns randomly at the end of a round of Gambit, and currently has a low spawn rate. This is causing players to quit a match as soon as they see that the primeval they're facing isn't the right one, making matches lopsided for those they leave behind. To address this, Bungie is increasing this particular primeval's spawn rate to the quest drops for those who defeat it more often in an update it expects to drop October 30, making it more common as the Dreaming City's three-week cycle intensifies, more likely to appear overall. To compensate, rewards that aren't tied to the quest for Malfeasance (which are all cosmetic) will now drop randomly after players defeat their first ascendant primeval, but are still guaranteed for the first kill.

Major Layoffs At Indie Fighting Game Icons Developer Wavedash

The future of Icons: Combat Arena, the indie fighting game from a group of competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee players and bears more than a slight resemblance to its inspirations, might be in doubt. The developer Wavedash posted a blog today announcing layoffs at the studio and openly expressing uncertainty about the game.

"When we started Wavedash three years ago, our mission was to create the game that we most wanted to play, and to share it with the world," the blog post reads. "Along the way, as the mission grew, we had the great fortune to be joined by some of the most talented, passionate builders in the game industry. Sadly, we have fallen short of our goals – but we feel immensely fortunate to have had the chance to bring Icons into existence, together."

While Wavedash says there will be news about the future of Icons next week, it does seem like the team will not create the full product they wanted to make.
