Weekend Warrior – Dragon Quest And Building

It's been a lighter week for game releases, so our editors are taking the time to catch up on a variety of titles. Let us know what you're planning on playing in the comments!

Kyle Hilliard (@kylemhilliard)  I’ve been enjoying Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Bloodstained, so I’ll keep going on both of those. I’m also playing the new Stranger Things game. Outside of games I’ve been enjoying Dead to Me on Netflix and riding my new bike that I got for myself as a late father’s day present. I look very cool in a helmet.

Brian Shea (@brianpshea)  I’ve been traveling a bit this week, but now that I’m back home, I’m going to continue my playthrough of Dying Light. However, while I was traveling, I deepened my Mario Maker 2 obsession, so I will probably make a couple more levels over the weekend. I also bought Dragon Quest Builders 2, so I can’t wait to start that.

The Coalition Commits To Exclude Depictions Of Smoking From Gears 5

The COG soldiers of Gears of War have one less health risk to worry about now, as all depictions of characters smoking have been removed from the Gears series. Developer The Coalition has decided to not portray characters smoking in any future Gears games, a policy that actually started with Gears of War 4.

According to Variety, Truth Initiative approached Turner, the esports broadcaster and organizer that owns the exclusive rights to broadcast Gears 5 gameplay, about the depiction of smoking in the series. In turn, Turner approached The Coalition, who agreed to work with the organization.

"I’ve seen firsthand the devastating impact of smoking," says The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson, "It’s always been important for me to not use smoking as a narrative device, which is why we made the conscious choice to avoid highlighting or glorifying smoking in Gears 5 and throughout the Gears of War Universe moving forward."

Streets Of Rogue's Launch Trailer Calls You A Monster For Throwing A Toilet At Someone

We were impressed with the on-the-nose Streets of Rogue when we played it, and now you can play the full game for yourself!

The trailer doesn't beat around the bush with its influences, saying "It's like Nuclear Throne meets Deus Ex, mixed with the anarchy of GTA. Rogue-lite meets immersive sim, and goes completely insane."

We would agree, having called it "a fascinating mess, in the best way possible." Check out our New Gameplay Today video in which we cause as much mayhem as possible.

TurboGrafx-16 Mini Gets A Release Date And Full Game Lineup

Konami announced its upcoming classic console last month, and today's '80s-inspired trailer revealed full details, including the full lineup of games and release date.

We already knew that western audiences would get a different version of the mini console, not just aesthetically, but with a largely different lineup of software. Konami announced today that all versions of the console will contain games from different regions, and that those titles will remain in their native language. With 24 games from the North American Turbographx-16 Mini/European PC Engine Core Graphx Mini, and 26 games from the Japanese PC Engine Mini, this pushes the total up to an impressive 50 games.

Here's the full list of games available in English included in the Turbographx-16 Mini:

Marvel's Avengers Comic-Con Presentation Will Not Be Streamed

Marvel's Avengers Comic-Con Presentation Will Not Be Streamed

A few weeks ago, Marvel Games revealed that some upcoming panels for said games would include new content for Avengers, the Square Enix-published action game that received some mixed reception at E3 earlier this year. It was a good chance for a game that still feels shrouded in fog to change some minds, but those minds are going to have to stay clouded for the moment unless they're actually at the panel itself. At the game's first public gameplay reveal in a panel focused solely on the game, there won't be any online streaming available.

The panel, which is in Hall H at 1:30 p.m. PST and hosted by the game's creative director Shaun Escayg and the voice actors from the reveal video, takes a deeper dive into Marvel's Avengers than we have seen before. It is unknown if the panel will feature entirely new gameplay or the behind-closed-doors presentation from Square Enix's booth at E3.

While the public could see that presentation by lottery appointment, which seemed to be gameplay of the title's introduction level, there was no filming allowed. A leaked cellphone video eventually got out, but the poor quality and awkward angles did the game no favors. It is a little strange that Square Enix is still shying away from showing the game, but maybe they have an actual blowout planned.

Persona 5 Royal Update Trailer Shows Off A New Location And New Tactics

Persona 5 Royal Update Trailer Shows Off A New Location And New Tactics

Morgana, the feline friend of the Phantom Thieves, has been releasing consistent update trailers called "Morgana's Report," to Atlus's official YouTube channel. A recently released third report shows off new details about a bunch of new battle techniques and the newest explorable location, Kichijoji.

Shown first in the trailer is the full reveals of the team attacks shown in the character trailers that have been released so far. These team attacks, called Show Time, are powerful (and often a bit wacky) combination attacks between two members of your party. The Show Time attacks look amazingly detailed and hilariously brutal, and more are yet to come in further trailers.

Personas now have different traits, which are characteristics that add buffs to the personas. These traits can be combined and passed on through fusion, which can lead to more customization in creating your ideal persona. Along the lines of customization, accessories can now be used to grant skills to your party members, allowing them to learn attacks they may not learn through regular leveling. The trailer shows how accessories can be used to teach Ann, typically a fire mage, an ice attack.
