Happy N7 Day! Mass Effect Andromeda Is Now Enhanced For Xbox One X

Mass Effect buzz may be at an all-time low given how generally off-put fans were by the release of Andromeda and how inactive the brand is at EA HQ, but the franchise is still popular enough that hardcore fans celebrate N7 day each year on November 7.

To kick off the festivities, today BioWare announced a free update for Mass Effect Andromeda on Xbox One X that adds higher-resolution graphics and HDR support. The update is available now.  The studio also put together this video:

In addition, BioWare and Jinx teamed up for a new line of N7 apparel, which you can check out here

Gris Has A Release Date And New Gameplay Trailer

Gris, one of our favorite Indie titles at PAX West 2018 for its beautiful art style and emotional tone, has a release date. The game's developer, Nomada Studio, took to Twitter to reveal the game is coming out on December 13 for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

The studio also unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer to celebrate. It showcases a barren landscape dotted with lamp post-like objects that could have come straight from a Dalí painting. The video may also show off a novel mechanic in one brief scene where the protagonist leaves behind a glimmering likeness after running through a beam of light.

To learn more about the game, we detailed what we knew about it in a preview here.

Call of Duty Blackout Mode Patch Removes Troublesome 9-Bang Grenade

Call of Duty Blackout Mode Patch Removes Troublesome 9-Bang Grenade

Last night Treyarch dropped a new patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's popular Blackout mode that makes some key changes to improve the experience.

Several weapons have received balancing passes – most importantly SMGs now have a little more stopping power to make them relevant – but the most critical change comes with the removal of the frequently spammed 9-Bang Grenade. We've noticed this powerful projectile has become an increasingly common crutch for people to use before engagements, so its removal is a welcome change.

In addition, the patch adds a new event bringing in the Blightfather from Zombies, a fearsome beast whom players can take out to earn big rewards.  If you see a pillar of red light rising to the sky, that's your cue to head that way for the big encounter. You only have until November 13 to take this bad boy down.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Director Contemplates Side-Game Content For Remake

Final Fantasy VII Remake Director Contemplates Side-Game Content For Remake

It's been a while since Final Fantasy VII's remake was announced at Sony's E3 conference and the game has only been seen once in video form since then, with nary a peep in the last few years. The game has changed developers and a lot of the work has reportedly been completely restarted, which gives director Tetsuya Nomura an opportunity to rethink Final Fantasy VII's conventions. One way of doing that, Nomura says, is to consider which of the Final Fantasy VII compilation titles might be better wrapped into the main story.

At a closed event for the Switch port of The World Ends With You, the attending Tetsuya Nomura was asked about one of the Compilation games. Nomura's response, translated by Gematsu, seems to wistfully wonder aloud how those games should fit into the FFVII remake.

“Not everyone may know this, but I’m remaking Final Fantasy VII," Nomura said with a laugh. "Right now I’m concentrating on Kingdom Hearts III, but when that’s finished, VII will be where I head next. I’m thinking about ideas regarding the remake’s release — I even spoke to producer Kitase about it today. All of us old-timers are considering various developments in regards to what accompanies the remake. Like if we can manage to do something about the Compilation [of Final Fantasy VII] titles too. But for the time being, please wait for VII‘s turn to come.”
