Riot Apologizes To Employees And Players In Wake Of Recent Sexism Allegations

League of Legends developer Riot Games has come under intense scrutiny after allegations regarding rampant misogyny and sexism in the company's offices. Today, the company announced its first steps to begin improving the company.

The allegations first arose in an exhaustive exposé from Kotaku, which revealed several women at the company were being mistreated, disrespected and passed up for promotions based on their gender. In the wake of the article, former Riot employees told their stories about similar incidents they faced at the company.

As a result, Riot has posted a blog on their website outlining some of the changes the company plans to undertake. "We will weave this change into our cultural DNA and leave no room for sexism or misogyny," the company said. "Inclusivity, diversity, respect, and equality are all non-negotiable."

Destiny 2, God Of War III Remastered Headline September's PlayStation Plus Free Games

Destiny 2, God Of War III Remastered Headline September's PlayStation Plus Free Games

This month's free lineup of PlayStation Plus games will let you prep a marquee game hitting next week, while also letting you explore the world of one of the marquee games from earlier in the year.

Destiny 2 is the first big title on PlayStation Plus this month. If you haven't played it yet, it's worth checking out for free if you're into RPG shooters. You may also have been hearing about some of the ways Forsaken hopes to shake the game up after a post-release slump in activities, so if you were thinking of diving in, now's a good time. You can also play the game starting today, giving you a bit of time to catch up to the rest of crowd before the expansion launches next week (you probably won't make it to the power cap, though. Prove me wrong).

The other big release is God of War III's PS4 remaster. If this year's God of War sequel/reboot piqued your interest in seeing gods die and are willing to go back to the old school combat of the series, III is a decent place to learn about why Kratos had to take a time out before slaughtering Norse gods.

A Fallout 76 Xbox One X Bundle For Your Shelter

The Fallout series is grimy, but the newly announced Xbox One X bundle is a pristine white – as are two other new Xbox accessories.

Unfortunately the Fallout 76 1TB Xbox One X doesn't feature any special graphics on the console itself, but it does come with the game pre-loaded.

The Robot White Special Edition bundle comes out on November 14 for $499.99.

The Final Shovel Knight DLC Is A Multiplayer Brawler

The Final Shovel Knight DLC Is A Multiplayer Brawler

Not content with merely being a guest in every other multiplayer brawler under the sun, Shovel Knight is bringing that knowledge back home with the final piece of DLC for the indie game mascot.

Titled Showdown, the new content puts 16 characters from Shovel Knight into a local-only brawler that blends the gameplay of Shovel Knight with multiplayer platform fighters like Super Smash Bros. or Rivals of Aether. Each character will also have their own story mode with dialogue and rivals along the way.

Showdown is coming to all the console versions of Shovel Knight, and PC, but not Vita or 3DS, likely due to a mixture of technological and sales concerns. If you already own Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, you'll be getting Showdown for free. It will also be released standalone if you only want to throw down with some Shovel Knight characters without buying the rest of the DLC.

Witcher Spinoff Gwent Gets Its Own Single-Player RPG Spinoff Called Thronebreaker

Witcher Spinoff Gwent Gets Its Own Single-Player RPG Spinoff Called Thronebreaker

During their financial results today, CD Projekt Red announced that the single-player campaign from Gwent is getting spun-off into its separate retail game called Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

The Witcher 3 launched with an in-universe card game called Gwent, which protagonist Geralt could play against the citizenry of the Northern Kingdoms. The game was so popular that CDPR wasted no time in announcing that they were spinning the game off into its own title with a single-player experience. Now, CDPR says, that single-player experience has gotten so big that it needs to stand on its own.

The Polish developer explained that the single-player campaign will be fairly Witcher-like, with decision-making and combat, albeit of the card-based variety over thirty hours of story. You can see the original trailer for Thronebreaker from last year below.
