The Last Major Update For The Master Chief Collection Rolls Out Today

In November 2014, Microsoft released The Master Chief Collection, an anthology of Master Chief's Halo games with Halo 2 being newly remastered for the Xbox One X. The game launched to fan outcry for problems with matchmaking and other issues, which 343 has spent the last four years attempting to understand and fix. Today, Microsoft released the last major update to the game before it releases on Game Pass next month, theoretically fixing it once and for all.

Thanks to months of feedback and playtesting by MCC Insiders, the latest major update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is rolling out today in preparation for the @XboxGamePass launch on 9/1. The collection has updated all four included titles visually for 4K and HDR and load faster than ever before. Games can now be installed separate from each other and further subdivided by campaign and multiplayer, so you don't need to install what you don't expect to play.

Epic And Google Clash Over Fortnite Android Vulnerability

Epic And Google Clash Over Fortnite Android Vulnerability

A few weeks ago, Epic announced that their incredibly popular Fortnite Battle Royale port on Android would be circumventing Google's Play Store and posting their own installer. Unlike the iOS store, Android app developers can simply post their own installer to download if they want and avoid giving Google a cut of their revenue, though it limits their theoretical reach, unless you're the biggest game in the world.

Now both Google and Epic are clashing over that decision and the security vulnerabilities inherent to it.

While the Google Play Store has received criticism for poor quality control over things like clones, by and large Google claims responsibility over making sure apps don't contain malicious code. When installers are separate, like Epic is doing with Fortnite, that safety net is gone, and you both have to be sure that what you're downloading is the Fortnite APK and that the installer's permissions don't leave holes for anything else to sneak through.

Bandai Namco Not Working On Soulcalibur VI For Switch, But Might In The Future

Bandai Namco Not Working On Soulcalibur VI For Switch, But Might In The Future

With Soulcalibur VI coming out soon, and another Bandai Namco fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ coming to Switch even sooner, Switch fans are wondering whether Soulcalibur will also arrive on the system after launch. Dualshockers got a chance to ask Motohiro Okubo just that question and he didn't quite rule it out.

"At the moment," Okubo told Dualshockers, "there is no development for Switch at all. I understand that the Switch is a very successful hardware, and of course if there is a possibility, then it would be great to do it. At the moment we’re focusing on the October 19th launch, so we don’t even have the time to think about that possibility. After the launch we’ll think about the possibility.”

Before Soulcalibur VI was announced, rumors were swirling about the possibility of the game coming to Switch with possible representation from Fire Emblem characters, echoing the release of Soulcalibur II on the Gamecube with Link from The Legend of Zelda series. Those rumors didn't pan out, but maybe it was being planned or got producers at Bandai Namco thinking.
