Free Version Of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Lets You Play Against Bots, Watch Matches

It's easy to forget how massively popular Counter-Strike:Global Offensive is. It's consistently one of the most popular games on Steam, and its tournaments are some of the most-watched in the world. In case you don't have a copy yet and want to see what all the fuss is about, you now have a quick way to test the waters.

Global Offensive's Steam page now lists a "Free Edition" of the game, which lets you play offline matches against bots, or spectate other players' matches through the in-game GOTV client. The in-game spectator client has some advantages over watching a livestream, such as letting you hop among player perspectives at will instead of relying on a guided camera.

The $15 of the game is now listed as the "Full Edition," and still offers all the regular features it normally does.

Valkyria Chronicles Is Coming To Switch

Switch Strategy fans can add another classic title to their library next month, as the original Valkyria Chronicles is headed to the Nintendo's hybrid console on October 16.

This makes it the second Valkyria Chronicles game headed to Switch, as Valkyria Chronicles 4 is also headed to the console September 15. But in order to goad players in hopping back in time after playing the latest entry, the company announced those who have VC4 in their Switch library will receive a 25-percent discount off the original VC, which will retail for $19.99.

We should also note the company said this is not officially the remastered version released on other platforms. As such, it's not clear whether this version will run at 1080p and 60fps, or if it will run similarly to how VC4 does on Switch.

Cyberpunk Indie Horror Game Observer Coming To Switch

Cyberpunk Indie Horror Game Observer Coming To Switch

Observer was a great little adventure game with a lot of Cyberpunk cool oozing out of it and more than a hint of horror peeking through. It got a pretty strong recommendation from Game Informer's own Javy Gwaltney, and I can vouch for it, too; while some of the stealth segments didn't come out too well, it's a solid trek through a very thoroughly detailed world. It's worth playing especially if seeing the recent demo of Cyberpunk 2077 has you pining for more of that aesthetic. And, if you're the kind of person who now adamantly refuses to play games until they're ported to Switch, you're out of excuses.

Developer Bloober Team is bringing Observer to Switch. Though the announcement trailer doesn't offer a release date (listing it only as "coming soon"), it's still worth watching if you're still on the fence about the game.

Leaked Build Of Soulcalibur VI Shows Playable Cervantes, Raphael

Soulcalibur VI has been revealing characters and story modes at a steady clip, but some of its content is still under wraps. However, it looks like a recent fighting game tournament in Melbourne, Australia is showcasing two characters who haven't been officially revealed.

Images and gameplay of the two characters in their SCVI forms have popped up on gaming forum Resetera, and while screens alone can be doctored, it's much more difficult to make up fake gameplay. While the Youtube upload of the gameplay has already been taken down, the backup video on Japanese video site Bilibili is still up, and the footage looks fairly legitimate.

The characters are sporting looks entirely different from their SCV days, which also means this is likely not a simply mod adding the characters into the new game. You can even see the using some of SCVI's new tricks like the Reversal Edge. Cervantes is still rocking his signature dual swords, and can still teleport and perform his signature Geo De Ray spin move. Raphael also retains his fencing style, including his dodge-into-attack routines.

Bungie Is Cracking Down On Destiny 2 Players Intentionally Leaving Multiplayer Matches

With Destiny 2's competitive playlist offer players the chance to earn an exclusive gun by performing well, it would follow competitors would want to earn that gun by any means necessary, including cheating. Well, Bungie says "no more."

When Destiny 2's Forsaken hits next Tuesday, players who "benefitted from opponent disconnects at a highly abnormal frequency throughout Season 3," will, according to Bungie, find some punishments waiting for them. Depending on the severity of their infraction, Bungie will be remove access to Redrix's Claymore and Broadsword, as well as Luna's Howl (the weapons these players were ostensibly hoping to "earn" by cheating), or, if the infraction was bad enough, be permanently banned from all Destiny 2 activities, including PvE.

Bungie will be using a newly-updated backend system to double-check cases where these infractions may have occurred, in order to make sure players who are being legitimately getting kicked from matches not get an accidental ban.
