Zone Of The Enders HD Collection Joins Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

With the second Zone of the Enders game getting an HD re-release for PlayStation 4 and PC, Microsoft is keen to remind Xbox 360 owners that the HD Collection version of the game they already own can also be played on their current-generation console.

Today, Microsoft and Konami announced that the Zone of the Enders HD Collection was added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list. Joining it is Rumble Roses XX, a first-gen Xbox 360 wrestling game that's heavy on the cheesecake. It's a game that's exceedingly unlikely to ever get an HD remaster, so backwards compatibility is pretty big step-up for it.

As always, if you own the games digitally, they should be under your download list. If you don't, you can buy them digitally on Xbox Live now or insert a disc to trigger a download and a disc-check whenever you play. Now you can be reminded why the Beyond the Bounds level in Zone of the Enders 2 is one of the best mech game levels ever.

Belgium Investigating EA Over FIFA Lootboxes

Belgium Investigating EA Over FIFA Lootboxes

Back in April, the country of Belgium came to the conclusion that lootboxes in certain games like Overwatch, Counterstrike: Global Offensive, and FIFA represented games of chance and would have to be classified as gambling as a result.

Being classified as gambling, much like in the Netherlands, effectively ends those games being sold in Belgium. In Counterstrike and Overwatch's cases, Valve and Blizzard simply disabled opening lootboxes at all in Belgium and the Netherlands, putting an adhesive strip over the problem. EA has allegedly simply decided not to do anything about it and let the chips fall where they may. Belgium's government is seemingly not happy about that.

According to the Belgium publication Metro, EA is now the target of a criminal investigation for its refusal to comply with these laws. The article, when run through Google Translate, states "The Brussels public prosecutor's office is conducting a criminal investigation into the company Electronic Arts because it continues to offer 'loot boxes' in its video games FIFA 18 and 19."

Creators Of Danganaronpa And Zero Escape Series Come Together To Found New Studio And Announce Projects

The two creative heads behind two of the biggest visual novel series coming from Japan are joining forces to found their own studio. Called Too Kyo Games, the studio is headed by Danganronpa designer and scenario writer Kazutaka Kodaka as well as Zero Escape series writer Kotaro Uchikoshi.

Kodaka announced the founding in a YouTube video today coinciding with an article in Japanese magazine Famitsu. In the announcement, Kodaka said the studio is focused on breaking reality with fiction and creating IPs that are known the world over. To that end, Too Kyo hit the ground running by announcing four projects that they're already working on.

The first game is an unnamed mystery title being worked on by both Kodaka and Uchikoshi. Not much has been said about it, but it appears the art is being done by Danganronpa artist Rui Komatsuzaki. Komatsuzaki and Kodaka are also working on an anime series with Studio Pierrot which is inspired by 90s action movies such as Leon the Professional.

Busan Map Now Available In Overwatch

Blizzard has finally released the Overwatch Busan map, announced a few weeks back, after it has been playable on the test server in the intervening time. The new control map is based partially on D.Va's Shooting Star short, including her Meka Base, a TV with the unfortunately hypothetical Heroes of the Storm fighting game playing on it, karaoke bars, and more.

You can catch a trailer for it below.

Additionally, Blizzard has added a new and often-requested change for the game: the ability to see your allies through walls. Now you'll get a blue outline if someone on your team is somewhere you can't really see them, which should help if you're a proactive healer trying to get to people before they need you.

Coming Off A Great Summer, Pokémon Go Developer Niantic Reveals What's Next

Pokémon Go is hardly slowing down. Tens of millions of trainers stayed locked into the game this summer, with a 35 percent increase in active usage since May.

Coming off of three global events and a successful implementation of new social features,  Niantic CEO John Hanke created a special blog post to celebrate all these milestones and talk about the future.

"While the headlines are filled with examples of technology being used to divide us, our experiences this summer deepen our conviction that technology can be harnessed to enhance our lives in a positive way and bring us all closer together and strengthen our connection with the communities where we live and play," Hanke writes.
