 Although we loved PUBG back when it officially launched, that praise was for the PC version. The Xbox One version, which left Microsoft's Game Preview program back in September, is a different story; the controls are at times a little too complicated for a controller, but most importantly, it's infamously unoptimized, meaning it runs at a poor framerate even on Xbox One X compared to its relatively well-done PC version. Although many figured this would be the case for the foreseeable future, PUBG Corp is still working on fixing that.

Community manager for PUBG Corp Lumos recently took to Reddit to address the concerns about the Xbox One version's poor framerate in light of an community update promising more graphical options that would allow for players to set their visual quality and resolution to improve performance. "The ultimate goal is to achieve a stable 60fps, and we'll continue to optimize to achieve that goal," Lumos said. They also mentioned they're looking into implementing an uncapped framerate once that goal is achieved, but wants to test out graphical options before promising that particular feature.

Dead Cells began as a Steam Early Access favorite, as the team at Motion Twin was heavily receptive to feedback, and the team looks to be doing that even post-release, as its latest update is filled with community suggestions.

The latest update to the alpha branch of the game, which is currently available on PC, makes a number of major changes to the game. Cooldown reduction works very differently now, as players will now have to work to have their skill cooldowns reduced (by killing enemies, parrying, and landing critical hits) instead of receiving them for free. Enemies don't automatically scale to your level anymore, and bosses now drop a weapon and an active skill instead of legendary weapon, and the costs of weapons and items scale more quickly than your own income on higher difficulty. There are now also new kinds of challenge doors that need you to kill a number of enemies without getting hit to open and will offer rewards similar to those of timed doors, which now let players pick one of three rewards instead of simply giving a scroll.

Among the number of balance, UI, and level changes, there's also a new custom mode, which allows players to run a game with specific parameters. You can modify which items are locked or unlocked, alter gameplay modifiers, and timers, among other things.

Earlier this week, Activision announced in an earnings call it was disappointed with the sales of Destiny, one of its major franchises, and promised it would have new ways to monetize its games and would be putting out content more frequently as a result (whether this applies to Destiny 2, specifically, is likely the implication but not entirely guaranteed). Bungie, however, doesn't feel disappointed at all, according to the current director of the franchise.

Destiny director Luke Smith has taken to Twitter to express his lack of pride in his team. "We are not disappointed with Forsaken," he posted. "We set out to build a game that Destiny players would love, and at Bungie, we love it too."

Smith also stated something that could mark a shift in direction for the series in the coming years. "Building Destiny for players who love it is and will remain our focus going forward."

You'll have to do quite a bit of downloading before heading into Appalachia when Fallout 76 hits on November 14, as the issues in the beta have prompted the release of a fairly large day-one patch.

PlayStation Universe reports the game will be receiving a 54.6GB day-one patch on addressing many of the issues players have found in the beta phase. This is on top of the base 45GB install players who download the game will have to make, for a total of nearly 100GB of data players have to make plans to clear out of their hard drive and plan around with regard to their internet provider's data cap.

Beyond major bug fixes, Bethesda also plans to improve the game after launch, with a larger stash size and improvements to the social interface coming after the game releases.

What To Watch This Weekend: Artifact, Counter-Strike, And Melty Blood

After the cavalcade of major events we had last weekend, it should be no surprise that lots of scenes (especially those revolving Blizzard games) are on cooldown. Valve is more than happy to carry to baton this weekend, however, as it's running tournaments for its three major games. There's also a fun Street Fighter tournament, as well as a grassroots anime fighting game tournament to keep your eye on.

With Artifact hitting later this month, Valve is having a preview tournament for the game today and tomorrow starting at 11am CST (that's right now!) Saturday and Sunday. Featuring top talent from both Dota 2 and other card games, it acts as the last taste of high-level action you'll likely see of the game before the beta hits November 19. (Stream)

The Next Major Overwatch PC Update Will Require You To Reinstall The Game

Video games take up more data today than they ever have before. If you own Overwatch on PC, you've probably invested a number of gigabytes to the game already, both through the installation process and through updates. You'll have to be willing to download a few more, however, as Blizzard says that the next patch will require players to download the client over again.

"The next major patch will have some pretty fundamental changes to the game client," Blizzard writes in a forum post. "The number of back-end changes we’re putting in is substantial enough that we can’t just patch over the current content efficiently. As a result, when the next patch comes out, the client will fully reinstall itself to handle these changes. We know that this isn’t ideal for people on metered connections, so hopefully this announcement helps you prepare for this coming update."

That should be around 13GB, which is not, like, relatively huge or anything. But it does mean that if you're one of those people that carefully rations out your monthly data cap due to ISP limits, there's a 13GB download in your near future that you might not have bargained for.

I have also really been enjoying Tetris Effect and I am near the end of the story (?) campaign. I am excited to see that to the end. Normally I would see The Grinch this weekend, but I saw it last night. You don’t need to see it. It’s not bad – just bland and forgettable. Also, laundry. So much laundry.

As Valve had previously announced, the company will be holding an invitation-only tournament this weekend for Artifact, their upcoming Dota 2-based card game. The developer will also use this event as a launch point to start pre-orders for the game, which releases two weeks later on Steam.

A beta is being held in-between the tournament and the release on November 19, though Valve has not yet clarified who is getting beta access. PAX Attendees who played the game in Seattle were given a code for access, but it would not be surprising if pre-orders were the method to determine who gets into the beta.

Additionally, Valve has released APIs to aid Artifact fans with homemade software for building decks. As there are already community-driven sites that, say, determine what kind of Artifact deck you would use based on a questionnaire about your personality, Valve wants to make that process a little easier. The developer is releasing the APIs to automatically grab images of cards and text, as well as sharing codes for decks. You can access the APIs here and start making new things to your heart's content.

During Nintendo's most recent financial report, the company's relatively new president Shuntaro Furukawa took questions from investors on the company's performance and future plans. One investor pointed out to Furukawa that there are many big games that are missing from the Switch; while he did not name any titles specifically, it is logical to assume he means games like Red Dead Redemption II, which sold 17 million copies in its first week. Furukawa's answer was blunt: some things just won't come to Switch and that's an unrealistic expectation.

Nuketown Coming To Black Ops 4 On PlayStation 4 Next Week

Activision has announced that the classic map, Nuketown, will be arriving in Black Ops 4 in a matter of days on the PlayStation 4, marking the fourth time the map has made an appearance in a mainline Call of Duty game. The map has long been popular for its smaller and more intimate nature, keeping matches at a tight pace, as well as its macabre nuclear war setting.

The announcement was made today via Twitter, showing a Cold War-era green screen flickering with various images of the map. The tweet itself has a caption in Russian, roughly translating to "Welcome back," before announcing in English that the map is coming to PlayStation 4 on November 13.
