New Trailer For Glass Pits Bruce Against The Beast

The latest trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming Glass, which stars Samuel L. Jackson as the eponymous Mr. Glass, just launched and it reveals a bit more of what to expect from the director's twisted take on the superhero genre.

For those who haven’t seen Shyamalan’s critically well-received 2016 film, Split, spoilers: the new film features James McAvoy as a young man afflicted with multiple personalities who also has one final personality that is imbued with superhuman abilities, known as the Beast. At the end of Split, it is revealed that the film also takes place within the same universe as Shyamalan’s underappreciated film from 2000, Unbreakable which first introduced Samuel L. Jackson as the villainous mastermind Mr. Glass and Bruce Willis as the super-powered David Dunn.

Based on the new trailer, it seems the film will center on these three extraordinary individuals locked in an institution by a doctor (played by Sarah Paulson) who believes they are deluded in the belief that they have superpowers. With the mad genius he possesses, it seems Mr. Glass will forge an alliance with the Beast to escape, and then fight Willis’s David Dunn to prove to the world that supers do, in fact, exist. But you don't have to take my word for it, you can see the trailer below for yourself.

October Xbox One Update Brings Back Avatars

Microsoft has revealed the contents of its October Xbox update today, and the news brings answers to a years-old mystery: Whatever happened to Microsoft’s cartoony Avatars, anyway?

The biggest addition of the October Xbox update is the return of Avatars, the customizable personas that players can create to represent them on their system. Based on the video, it appears Avatars have gotten a decent graphical makeover, and Microsoft says there are now more customization options to fine-tune your look. This includes a new Avatar Store, which will be updated monthly with new clothes and props that you can buy. Old-school Avatar fans (if they exist) can also opt to stick with their original creation from the Xbox 360 days.

Avatars will show up in a variety of places on your dashboard, friends lists, and leaderboards, but will remain completely optional. You can check them out for yourself in the video below.

Ubisoft Quebec Earns Best Franchise Launch Week With Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft Quebec Earns Best Franchise Launch Week With Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Odyssey had a big launch week, so much so it set a new record for the franchise's opening sales for this current console generation.

While Ubisoft didn't provide specific numbers, the publisher did release a press release, confirming the new milestone.  "We are incredibly proud of what the team accomplished with Assassin's Creed Odyssey and humbled by the amazing reception from critics and players," says senior vice president of sales and marketing Geoffroy Sardin. "Based on the quality of the game and the very encouraging reactions from players, we expect  Odyssey to be one of the top performing Assassin's Creed games of all-time."

This is extremely encouraging for the studio, as its last Assassin's Creed efforts didn't have as promising numbers. Ubisoft Quebec previously worked on Assassin's Creed Syndicate, which was a solid entry, but suffered from following Assassin's Creed Unity's troubled launch. Syndicate's sales didn't hit the high bar expected, but picked up some pace in subsequent weeks. The following release, Assassin's Creed Origins, introduced some much-needed changes for the juggernaut franchise, giving it new lifeblood with more RPG and story-focused elements. It doubled the sales of Syndicate. Odyssey is continuing to capitalize on that success alongside providing an enticing new setting with Ancient Greece.

Amanita Design has revealed a trailer and a few details about its upcoming adventure game, Creaks. Creaks seems to follow in the trail of the studio's previous work, with a whimsical art style and puzzle-focused gameplay. But, if the trailer can be interpreted, this game explores the idea of what lies behind those creaky walls in an old house.

Amanita Design has won praise for its previous games, including Machinarium and Botanicula.

Creaks is targeting release on PC and consoles in 2019.
