Call of Duty Blackout Mode Patch Removes Troublesome 9-Bang Grenade

Last night Treyarch dropped a new patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's popular Blackout mode that makes some key changes to improve the experience.

Several weapons have received balancing passes – most importantly SMGs now have a little more stopping power to make them relevant – but the most critical change comes with the removal of the frequently spammed 9-Bang Grenade. We've noticed this powerful projectile has become an increasingly common crutch for people to use before engagements, so its removal is a welcome change.

In addition, the patch adds a new event bringing in the Blightfather from Zombies, a fearsome beast whom players can take out to earn big rewards.  If you see a pillar of red light rising to the sky, that's your cue to head that way for the big encounter. You only have until November 13 to take this bad boy down.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Director Contemplates Side-Game Content For Remake

It's been a while since Final Fantasy VII's remake was announced at Sony's E3 conference and the game has only been seen once in video form since then, with nary a peep in the last few years. The game has changed developers and a lot of the work has reportedly been completely restarted, which gives director Tetsuya Nomura an opportunity to rethink Final Fantasy VII's conventions. One way of doing that, Nomura says, is to consider which of the Final Fantasy VII compilation titles might be better wrapped into the main story.

At a closed event for the Switch port of The World Ends With You, the attending Tetsuya Nomura was asked about one of the Compilation games. Nomura's response, translated by Gematsu, seems to wistfully wonder aloud how those games should fit into the FFVII remake.

“Not everyone may know this, but I’m remaking Final Fantasy VII," Nomura said with a laugh. "Right now I’m concentrating on Kingdom Hearts III, but when that’s finished, VII will be where I head next. I’m thinking about ideas regarding the remake’s release — I even spoke to producer Kitase about it today. All of us old-timers are considering various developments in regards to what accompanies the remake. Like if we can manage to do something about the Compilation [of Final Fantasy VII] titles too. But for the time being, please wait for VII‘s turn to come.”

Smash Bros. Director Says All The DLC For Ultimate Has Been Decided

Last week during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, series director Masahiro Sakurai introduced the first season of DLC by stating that five characters, which the team has not started work on yet, will come after the game has released. Sakurai introduced the season pass and apologized for being unable to announce the five characters yet. Today, he announced that those five characters have been chosen by Nintendo and basically ended discussion on the subject.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC line-up is now complete. This time the selection was made entirely by Nintendo. I decide if we can create a fighter based on their selection, then come up with the plan.

It’s great to dream about your favorite character joining the battle and I appreciate your passion, but please try to stay on topic when replying to tweets and refrain from flooding us, and other users, with requests when we're not specifically asking for feedback. Thank you!

Take Your First Look At The NFL Skins In Fortnite

Why would you want to wear a dinosaur or pumpkin skin when you could represent your favorite football team instead? This is a strange question that Fortnite players will soon be asking themselves when the NFL skins appear in the game on November 9. Popular Fortnite players like Ninja showed them off during their livestreams today.

Ninja, who is a huge Detroit Lions fan, was decked out in the team's iconic silver and blue. When the skins are purchased, the player can select any team and number for any match. So if you start out by wearing a Miami Dolphins skin with the number 22, your next match could be as a Chicago Bear with number 45. The skins that are being sold feature three distinct looks for both male and female avatars.

As you can see from the image below, you can round out the football look with a goal post melee item.

Swedish indie developer Lionbite Games released the first gameplay trailer for its dystopian adventure Rain of Reflections today. Using only in-engine footage, the trailer showcases the game's sleek, dystopian aesthetic while also introducing the core gameplay systems.

Along with voice-acted dialogue systems where players must weigh their decisions carefully, the game also incorporates puzzle solving minigames, turn-based strategy with a wide array of tactical options, and point-and-click exploration.

With the announcement of three chapters, the trailer sets up the events of the game’s first chapter, “Set Free,” which focuses on scientist Wilona, who works to uncover the mysteries behind humanity’s sudden infertility. When she begins to question the morality of her experiments, Wilona frees her test subject – the last born child, and must navigate opposing forces who seek to stop her.

It's Election Day! Game Informer's Matt Miller wrote here about how and why gamers didn't make it to the polls in recent elections, but a popular meme sweeping through twitter might be a good indication that young voters are getting out this year. The "Voting in 2016 vs. Voting in 2018" meme is blowing up and giving voters a hilarious platform to express their thoughts on this election, and gaming culture is getting in on the action. Here are the best we have found:

I call this one "Toon to Terror."

You've got a little something on your face there.
