Firefly Online Reunites Show's Cast, But Maybe Don’t Get Too Excited Yet

Firefly Online Reunites Show's Cast, But Maybe Don’t Get Too Excited Yet

Yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, the team working on a Firefly MMO announced that it was pulling the cast of the single-season Fox series together again. On the surface, that’s fantastic news. Unfortunately, the footage shown doesn’t inspire much confidence.

As we mentioned last year about this time, developer Sparkplug Games doesn’t have the most extensive pedigree. The studio has worked on hidden-object games and a licensed title for ice cream shop Dairy Queen.

This Week In Mobile – Plenty Of RPGs And The Return Of A Mobile Classic

As the summer months begin to wane, some of you may be traveling or enjoying vacation away from your video game consoles. Fear not, for we've once again rounded up some titles for your mobile device to scratch that gaming itch while you're soaking in the sun.

Revolution 60Developer: Giant SpacekatPlatforms: iOS
Price: $5.99

In this sci-fi RPG, players control an assassin named Holiday by swiping various gestures on the grid-based battlefield and shape the narrative through her interactions with the world. With a real-time battle system and graphics reminiscent of early pre-rendered CGI, Revolution 60 is the most unique title on our list.

Grand Theft Auto IV Looks Amazing On PC With iCEnhancer 3.0 Mod

Grand Theft Auto IV Looks Amazing On PC With iCEnhancer 3.0 Mod

While we wait (not so patiently) for this fall’s release of Grand Theft Auto V on PC, the iCEnhancer mod team has been hard at work. The group has made available the third full release of its mod, which completely overhauls the visuals in Grand Theft Auto IV for a hyperrealistic sheen.

This looks like the New York I know and love. The early scenes underneath the elevated tracks look my friend’s neighborhood in Brooklyn, and it’s easy to pick out the inspiration for many of the other locales (even more so than in the original release).

Unboxing The July 2014 'Villains' Loot Crate

Another month, another Loot Crate! Early last month we unboxed May's Loot Crate where we got a taste of adventure. For July, the theme is villains.

As always, the good folks at Loot Crate continue to impress with their selection. First and foremost is an excellent t-shirt that combines Marvel's Loki and DC's Joker to create Joki.

Also included is a comic featuring Guardians of the Galaxy's Rocket Raccoon, a pair of Deadpool socks, a documentary on DC supervillains, a Bowser kitchen magnet, a Joker/Harley Quinn poster, and a Darth Vader keychain. Even the box has Joker-style graffiti all over it. Take a look at the image gallery below to see some of these items up close.

Batman Art Exhibit Swoops In To Coincide With Comic-Con

Warner Bros. and DC have unveiled their latest effort to celebrate Comic-Con and the 75th anniversary of Batman. A number of life-size recreations of the dark knight's signature cape and cowl are now on display at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego.

The "Cape/Cowl/Create" event was shown for the first time last night and is available to the public from today until 7 pm on Sunday. Those interested in looking to see some sweet Batman art can do so by visiting the Legends Room at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Many of the designs were inspired by the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, though contributions were also made by Zack Snyder, director of Batman v. Superman, and Will Arnett, who starred as Batman in The Lego Movie. Other artists offered their own contributions as well. To see some of our favorites, take a look at the image gallery below.

Crytek Addresses Financial Problems, No Comment On Hunt Or Homefront

Crytek has addressed some of the concerns regarding its current financial position and its relationship with employees, who have reportedly walked off the job after not receiving pay. The Crysis and Homefront studio has issued its first statement since news of its troubles broke last month.

Immediately prior to E3, Crytek announced a new free-to-play title called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age (our E3 preview). The studio also announced that it is developing Homefront: The Revolution, which is slated for publication by Deep Silver.

A representative provided the following statement to us via email:

Takara Tomy Is Turning Optimus Prime Into An Original PlayStation

This year is the 20th anniversary of Sony’s PlayStation. The console was released in 1994 in Japan (1995 in the United States), but it’s only now we are learning the console’s deepest secret. It’s really a Transformer.

Takara Tomy is preparing a special version of Optimus Prime that transforms into a replica of the original PlayStation. This isn’t the first time that the Japanese manufacturer has combined classic gaming and Hasbro’s beloved toy line.

Iron Banner Returns To The Destiny Beta This Weekend

Iron Banner Returns To The Destiny Beta This Weekend

The Iron Banner, the Destiny beta’s most grueling multiplayer challenge, will return this weekend. You’ll need to bring your best gear, because this playing field is far from level.

The Crucible multiplayer, which is available at all times, doesn’t take into account the power ratings on weapons and armor. The Iron Banner pits players against one another, and those who have been acquiring the best gear will have an edge.

The event will run in three blocks on Friday, July 25 (today) and Saturday, July 26. You can jump in from 10 a.m until 12 p.m., 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. (all times Pacific) on both days.
