Wii Version Of Skylanders: Trap Team Contains Free Wii U Digital Download

Skylanders stormed this year's San Diego Comic Con with new gameplay footage, the announcement of a Dark Edition Starter Pack (pictured above), and our first look at a new line of figures called Eon's Elite. One bit of news almost feel through the cracks: The Wii version of Skylanders: Trap Team contains a free digital download of the Wii U version.

Skylanders: Trap Team is slated to release on October 5. The Wii Starter Pack includes the new Traptanium Portal, Food Fight and Snap Shot figures, and two traps, which can be used to capture over 40 playable villain characters. Keep in mind, the download code doesn't mean you have two full versions of the game. If you're thinking about handing the code over to a friend, they won't be able to play it without the new Traptanium Portal. None of the previously released Portals are compatible with Trap Team.

Seen At Comic Con 2014: Cosplay

Comic Con is a consistently impressive display of costumes across an incredible range of entertainment media. This is only a small sampling of some of the video game cosplay on display on the show.

They must all be really embarrassed about wearing the same costumes.

He's not nearly as angry as he looks. Nor is he made of lava.

Maisie Williams In Talks For The Last of Us Film

about X hours ago from

While original voice actress Ashley Johnson would be perfect for the role of Ellie in Screen Gems' upcoming Last of Us film, she's a little old to portray a 14-year-old onscreen. However, the HBO's Game of Thrones star, who plays Arya Stark, could make a descent stand in.

During a Screen Gems panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, the production team talked about the development of The Last of Us film and mentioned how Game of Throne's Maisie Williams is in talks for the lead role of Ellie, but nothing has yet been signed, so that could change.

Sam Raimi is currently producing the film, and game writer Neil Druckmann is taking a first pass at the game’s script. The film was announced back in March. Check out our casting call for the film, where we suggested another Game of Throne’s actor for one of the parts.

Weekend Warrior 7/25/14

Weekend Warrior 7/25/14

Even though working at Game Informer is great, it's still hard work. Sometimes we need to take a break from playing and writing about video games to...well, play more video games. It looks like many of us plan to spend this weekend relaxing, catching up on recent releases, or digging through some older titles. What are you guys up to?

Tim Turi: I've been in a weird place with games, recently. The most obvious game I've gotten around to checking out is Watch Dogs, which actually seems alright so far. Other than that I've been playing the first game from Monolith (Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor dev), called Blood. It's an old-school FPS with tons of gore and crazy weapons like a hairspray/lighter flamethrower. I'm also diving back into World of Warcraft to scratch that MMO itch. We'll see how long that lasts, though.

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I hope to get a little more time into the Destiny beta. I've been playing as a Warlock this time around, though I don't like the hover ability as much as the Hunter's speed double jump. Beyond that, I'd really just like to kick back and play some Zen Pinball 2, and see if I can steal some high scores from my fellow editors.

See How Long It Takes To Drive Across The Country In The Crew

A beta participant of Ubisoft's upcoming racer, The Crew, has posted a video showing how long it takes to drive from Miami to Los Angeles.

YouTube user Birds AT posted footage from the beta that's currently underway, which shows him plotting out the course and then taking the long trek across Ivory Tower's abbreviated version of the United States. Not counting a few spinouts along the way, the trip takes a total of 40 minutes, and isn't even the longest continuous stretch possible. You can watch the road trip in real-time in the video below, if you've got an hour to spare.

Extended Tekken 7 Trailer Reignites Mishima Feud

After 20 years of bad blood, Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima might finally bury the axe in the next installment of Tekken. Shown today at the Bandai Namco Fighting Game panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the extended cut of the Tekken 7 announcement trailer promises to be the conclusion of the Mishima saga.

Though we don't get a glimpse of gameplay, this version of the trailer shows returning characters Miguel, Wang, and Leo mourning over those Heihachi has taken from them over the course of the series. We also see the same woman from original trailer, whose monologue reveals there might be more to Kazuya's relationship with his devil power than previously known.
