Shadowrun Returns Dragonfall Expansion Gets Stand Alone “Director’s Cut” Release

Harebrained Schemes announced in a recent Kickstarter Update that the expansion to their Kickstarted RPG Shadowrun Returns, Dragonfall, will be getting its own “Director’s Cut” stand-alone release this September. This extended version of Dragonfall will feature as-of-yet unannounced new content, and will be available for free to original Kickstarter backers and those who have already bought Dragonfall.

The Director’s Cut of Shadowfall: Dragon’s Fall was announced in Harebrained Schemes’ Kickstarter Update #73, (which you can see below) and coincided with the one-year anniversary of the release of Shadowrun Returns. The turn-based RPG is a revival of the classic RPG/table top universe of Shadowrun, a sci-fi fiction future in which magic suddenly returns to world, transforming some people into elves, dwarves, orcs, and even dragons who intermingle with futuristic technology. If you’re thinking Bladerunner-meets-Firefly-meets-Dungeons-and-Dragons, you’re on the right track.

about X hours ago from

Hit 3DS RPG Bravely Default is now a 1 million-seller. The news reaffirms Square Enix’s comments from March that the title was performing ahead of expectations.

According to Dengeki Online, 400,000 copies have been sold in Japan, with 600,000 units moved in the West (totals inclusive of the digital version). The title was released in October 2012 in Japan, December 2013 in Europe and Australia, and Fenbruary 2014 in North America.

In March, Square Enix said that it would produce more core RPGs and release them in the West. “Due to having split [the development mindset] according to regions around the world, we weren’t able to see this clearly up until now, but fans of JRPGs are really spread around the world,” said company president Yosuke Matsuda.

EA Enlists Hollywood Talent For Battlefield Hardline Single-Player Campaign

Battlefield Hardline may be delayed into 2015, but that's not stopping Visceral Games from sharing new details about the game. At a Comic-Con panel in San Diego, the studio shed light on the steps it's taking to make an impactful narrative, something the series has largely struggled with to date.

To aid in the efforts, EA has enlisted a deep roster of Hollywood help, including narrative consultant Wendy Calhoun (Justified), performance director Bill Johnson (West Wing), and actors Eugene Byrd (Bones), Kelly Hu (Nash Bridges), and Benito Martinez (Sons of Anarchy).

The story follows a cop who becomes a vigilante after being framed, kicked off the force, and sent to prison. Along the redemption tale, players will journey from inner cities to desert drug warehouses, confronting criminals and corrupt cops alike. For information about the panel and how creative director Ian Milham views the recent delay as a blessing, head over to Polygon.

Head over to Twitch to join in on the action. To learn more about this phenomenon, in which the actions taken in the game are crowdsourced via the Twitch chat  check out Kyle's exploration of its mythos and his interview with the creator.

Watch The Impressive Mad Max: Fury Road Trailer

The fourth chapter of the Mad Max saga, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, looks great thus far.

Today at Comic-Con, series creator George Miller unveiled a new trailer of Mad Max: Fury Road, which is scheduled to arrive in 2015. Many are curious whether or not Tom Hardy (Bronson, The Dark Knight Rises) will serve as a good successor to Mel Gibson in the role of Mad Max. This trailer does little to further the argument for either side of that conversation, but the car-chase action sequences look to have taken a significant leap forward since the last film in the series.
