Deep Silver Did Not Buy TimeSplitters Franchise From Crytek

Deep Silver recently saved the Homefront series from the wreckage of Crytek UK. However, the company did not do the same for TimeSplitters.

Crytek had experienced financial difficulties recently, leading to staff at Crytek UK staff not being paid, and throwing the development of Homefront: The Revolution into disarray. Thankfully, publisher Deep Silver stepped in to save the project, buying the Homefront IP from Crytek and forming Dambuster Studio, staffed largely with ex-Crytek UK employees.

Sadly, Deep Silver recently confirmed to Polygon that the company did not purchase the TimeSplitters property from Crytek, which owns the rights to the beloved Free Radical shooter franchise. A Deep Silver spokesperson said, "The TimeSplitters IP did not come with the deal — it was only for the Homefront IP."

"Here's something new--the trophy shop. If you're having a hard time getting certain trophies, why not just buy them? They sometimes go on sale, too."

Casey Hudson Departs BioWare

about X hours ago from

Casey Hudson has been a key member of BioWare, serving as project director for Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic and director and executive producer of all three Mass Effect titles. After the 2012 departure of BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, Husdon took on an even more central role in the company. Today, however, Hudson announced in a letter that has been posted on BioWare's website that he is ready to "hit the reset button and move on from BioWare."

Hudson's letter outlines the state of BioWare's current projects, which have given him a good window for leaving the company:

"Though there's never an easy time to make a change like this, I believe this is the best time for it. The foundation of our new IP in Edmonton is complete, and the team is ready to move forward into pre-production on a title that I think will redefine interactive entertainment. Development for the next Mass Effect game is well underway, with stunning assets and playable builds that prove the team is ready to deliver the best Mass Effect experience to date. And the Dragon Age: Inquisition team is putting the final touches on a truly ambitious title with some of the most beautiful visuals I've seen in a game."

Auction House And Rebuilt Ultimate Team Mode Coming To NBA Live 15

A popular feature in recent FIFA and Madden entries is now making its way to EA's NBA Live series. The auction house will be featured in NBA Live 15.

In our recent interview with NBA Live executive producer Sean O'Brien, we learned that for this year's entry they are "basically building Ultimate Team from scratch." Ultimate Team mode was included in NBA Live 14 and was one of the more popular game modes. The developer is also looking to ensure that it will "have a fresh and slightly different take on Ultimate Team as well for basketball."

In addition to the newly constructed mode, EA is throwing in the auction house. This allows people to auction off and buy player cards to use in the Ultimate Team mode. Unlike the FIFA version, however, the NBA Live 15 auction house will not feature an app.

Watch A Fish Play Pokémon

Watch A Fish Play Pokémon

Why watch a random collective of the Twitch community play Pokémon when you can watch a stupid fish play instead? Spoiler: This fish really sucks at Pokémon.

The latest bizarre phenomenon on Twitch proves that gamers will watch literally anything play Pokémon. A streaming maverick has set up a copy of Pokémon Red with a motion-tracking camera pointed at a fish tank. The tank is separated into distinct sections which are mapped to the Gameboy's inputs; when the fish swims into one of the designated areas, it periodically triggers that command. So far the fish seems to be stuck in protagonist's house, and not making much progress.

That fact hasn't stopped a boatload of gamers from tuning in, however; the stream has been running at roughly 20,000 concurrent users all day, proving definitively that entertainment is subjective – and that some people have way too much time on their hands. [Update] Diablo III To Run At 1080p On Xbox One And PlayStation 4

Update: Blizzard says that Diablo III will now run at 1080p/60 frames per second for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Blizzard associate producer Tiffany Wat shared the good news with GameSpot. "The game will be available [in] 1080p on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Native 1080p resolution. You will need to download the day-one patch for the Xbox One to get that support, but it will be there. We're very happy about that."

Earlier this week, Blizzard announced that Diablo III has sold over 20 million copies, and that old game saves will transfer across generations – in some cases even between Microsoft and Sony's platforms. Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition is set to launch on August 19.
