New Details And Trailers On The Halo Channel And The Master Chief Collection

We met with 343 Industries for a presentation on The Halo Channel and Halo: The Master Chief Collection and came away with new info not included in Microsoft's press conference.

First off, The Halo Channel. 343 sees the channel as a different way to enter the Halo universe. The main guide area of the channel includes the following tabs: featured, queue, originals, news, games, e-sports, and play Halo. It's got a constant live feed in addition to video on demand. It also keeps track of all of your Halo stats and achievements, including rewards granted for watching the weekly 343-produced Halo Bulletin and shows like Forward Unto Dawn and the new Halo Nightfall. While you're watching these videos, you can check out related tweets and dig into the explorer, which brings up details on characters appearing onscreen. I saw a bio on Master Chief and in his "related items" tab was Cortana. This wiki-style information will be constantly updated as necessary and is made to keep you digging to learn more. During our viewing of Forward Unto Dawn, a notification popped up for a "secondary story," which appeared to be a featurette related to the scene at hand. If the player diverts off and watches it, he or she will receive "reward" credit similar to achievements.

Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro Team Up For New Silent Hill

Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro Team Up For New Silent Hill

Earlier today Sony teased a free PlayStation 4 download called P.T. Little did we know this would turn out to be a stealth reveal of a new Silent Hill project being headed by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, The Orphanage).

Toward the end of the demo, a character turns around to reveal a virtual likeness of Norman Reedus, who is most famous for his role as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. Reedus' first film, coincidentally, was Del Toro's horror flick Mimic. As this happens, the names Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro flash across the screen, culminating with the presumed title Silent Hills.

To see this reveal yourself, download P.T. from the PlayStation Store.

Don't Count On More Phantom Dust Information Until E3 2015

Earlier today, I had the chance to speak with head of Xbox Phil Spencer about Xbox One, Tomb Raider exclusivity, and the future of the gaming industry. Before we parted though, I had one more question. "When do we get to see more Phantom Dust?"

Spencer tells us that he and the team haven't yet finalized the TGS roster, but we shouldn't count on the game being there. "It was early when we showed it [at E3]," he says. "That's why it was just a trailer."

Chances are we'll be waiting for more news until 2015. "I would bet in won't be TGS," Spencer said. As we chatted about the schedule of events following, it seemed most likely that E3 2015 will be our next look at the reboot. Spencer and his team might have other surprises along the way, though.

"We continue to look back at the catalog," Spencer says. There are games we love, and we should bring them back for people."
