Fans Compile List Of Missing Features From The Sims 4

An enthusiastic, invested community has always been one of the strengths of The Sims series. However, for the upcoming Sims 4, Electronic Arts may be lamenting these fans' attention to detail, since it has resulted in a list of 89 things that have been cut from previous entries.

The post on Sims4News offers a comprehensive rundown of the missing features, which ranges from small cuts (like the absence of acne) to larger omissions (like the lack of pools, basements, and cars).

We asked The Sims 4 executive producer Rachel Franklin about the omissions in an interview at Gamescom. "I'm uber focused on the base game," she says. "It's always a tough decision. I want to put everything we've ever created in the last 14 years into a base game. We simply can't. That said, what we have done is we've created an incredibly rich, robust experience. If we didn't build the core foundation, but I gave you pools, that wouldn't be the right thing to do. So we had to make that choice, because we have to make sure that the foundation of the experience that we're delivering for the base game is as amazing as I believe we've made it. It was a tough decision, but I believe it was the right decision despite how difficult it was."

Naughty Dog Animator Makes Dante's Inferno Fan Film

Naughty Dog’s Senior Cinematic Animator Tal Peleg is a huge fan of Visceral Games’ 2010 action game Dante’s Inferno, so much so that he animated and directed “Dante’s Redemption,” a fan-made short film. You can check out the short, which stylishly details Dante’s journey into the bowels of Hell to rescue his beloved Beatrice from the hands of Lucifer, below.

At the beginning of the video, a note from Peleg explains that part of what he wanted to do with “Dante’s Redemption” is capture the raw physical power and martial skill of Dante. The action-packed short film certainly accomplishes that, featuring an unstoppable Dante doing battle with Hell hounds, knights, and even Death himself.

Ikaruga Creator Working On A New Shooter

Ikaruga is one of the great top-down shooters, involving an overwhelming onslaught of black and white bullets, plus the ability to flip your ship's polarity to become invulnerable to one color or the other. The mechanic is elegant and entertaining, and now the mind behind Ikaruga, Hiroshi Iuchi, is working on a new shooter called Ubusana.

Though details are scarce, Ubusana will be a downloadable shooter. It is currently in development for PlayStation 4, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be exclusive to the platform.

The game is still a long way from release, but if you are a fan of traditional shooters, you can start looking forward to another trip to bullet hell.
