Reader Discussion: Let’s Chat About Season Passes

Just a little while ago, Warner Bros. and Monolith announced a season pass for Middle-earth: Shadows of Mordor. If you haven’t yet read that story, it might be worth checking it out for context.

Since the advent of the season pass, we’ve seen the concept applied in different ways. L.A. Noire added new cases (story missions), Mortal Kombat introduced four new characters at a discounted price, and more recently, we’ve seen the bundling of story and multiplayer content with cosmetics to round out experiences.

Some of the season passes have delivered solid value. Others have been criticized for protracted development and delivery or simply underwhelming content.

Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor Season Pass Gets Early, Incomplete Details

Warner Bros. and Monolith have detailed the planned expansion content for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. While WB has offered some detail, there are still some missing pieces missing that would be useful to know.

The season pass will include a new warband mission (Guardians of the Flaming Eye), early access to the Trials of War challenge missions (which sounds like horde mode), the Lord of the Hunt beast-hunting missions, and The Bright Lord story missions that put players in the role of Celebrimbor as he fights Sauron and his forces.

There is also a hint that “future content” will be included, which could include more upgrade runes, skins, and other even more ambiguous items. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be out on September 30 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC. For the latest on Shadow of Mordor, check out a look at Gollum's role in the story.

Disney Infinity 2.0 Gets Toy Box Starter Pack This November

Disney Infinity 2.0 Gets Toy Box Starter Pack This November

When Disney Infinity was first announced, people assumed that it was Skylanders with Disney characters. As we learned more, it became clear that one of the differentiating factors was Infinity’s Toy Box mode, a playground for building adventures and minigames, or just crafting a brand new sandbox in which to play.

While Marvel Super Heroes are in the spotlight for the scripted play sets this year, Disney hasn’t forgotten its own characters and the players that love to build in the toy box. To that end, the publisher is releasing a creation-themed bundle focused on new characters and tools, but you’ll need to wait a bit for it.

The Toy Box Starter Pack 2.0 will be released on November 4 (the Marvel Super Heroes version with the Avengers is out on September 23). It comes with the 2.0 Edition game, the base (to put the figures on), Merida, Stitch, two toy box game discs (Stitch’s Tropical Rescue and Brave Forest Siege), a web code card, and a poster.

Konami Releases Another P.T./Silent Hills Reactions Video

Konami Releases Another P.T./Silent Hills Reactions Video

Following its assorted Gamescom presentations of P.T. (Silent Hills), Konami has released another video of reactions from players, this time from older Japanese women.

You can check out the video below, which shows the women playing the game in a darkened room filmed with a special night-vision camera. Most react as you would expect – horrified – but there are a few standouts.

One woman, seems to be muttering to herself in fear, and suddenly her expression changes to what you see above. I'm not even sure how to describe it. My favorite, however, has to be the woman at about 0:53 who offers absolutely no change in facial expression whatsoever. She is completely unperturbed by the horrors appearing on screen.
