Report: Amazon In Talks To Purchase Twitch

A new report indicates that a new suitor is wooing popular streaming site Twitch. Previous reports paired Google and YouTube with the growing service, but today’s news suggests another heavyweight company’s interest.

According to The Information and, subsequently, the Wall Street Journal, Amazon is in talks to acquire Twitch. According to the Wall Street Journal, which cites a source who has been briefed, the deal would be worth over $1 billion and could be announced as early as today. Previous reports suggested a similar price tag with Google as the buyer.

In recent weeks, Twitch has made moves to clean up its copyright problems. The company shut down Justin.tv, the website that pre-dated Twitch as a home for game streaming. Twitch also made changes to the way it handles licensed music played underneath streams and in games like Grand Theft Auto V.

Don’t Starve Comes To Vita Free For PS4 Version Owners

Klei Entertainment has announced a Vita version of Don’t Starve that should please quite a few people. The Giant Edition of the game will arrive in just over a week, will include the Reign of Giants expansion, and will be absolutely free for anyone that owns the PlayStation 4 version.

For those keeping track, Don’t Starve was a PlayStation Plus offering in early 2014. If you took advantage of that offer, all you need to do is download the game on September 2.

Because of some coding changes, the title isn’t cross-play with the home version. That means you won’t be able to carry over your character unlocks, unfortunately.

Charles Martinet’s Mario-Themed Instagram Videos Are Adorable

If you don’t know Charles Martinet’s name, then you probably at least know his voice. He’s the man behind the mustaches of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and others. What you may also not know is that he has an Instagram account filled with Nintendo-themed goofs and gags.

Martinet is currently in Chile, and he’s brought some of his friends to see the sights and enjoy the local cuisine (with some special results). Click on the images to see the videos on Martinet’s Instagram page.

Martinet began working for Nintendo in the early 1990s, but first voiced the character in a game when Super Mario 64 was released in 1996. Beyond Nintendo, Martinet has appeared in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, Jet Set Radio Future, and more. You can follow him on Instagram for more videos starring Mario and friends.

Rumor: Super Smash Bros. Videos Reveal Two Unannounced Characters

We’re just five weeks away from the release of Super Smash Bros. on 3DS, and there are still some secrets that haven’t been revealed by Nintendo. Now, videos have emerged through unofficial channels that depict two unannounced characters brawling in the handheld version.

If you’d prefer to avoid having part of the roster spoiled, now’s a great time to back out. Otherwise, here we go.

According to the videos below, Xenoblade Chronicles’ Shulk and Super Mario Bros.’ Bowser Jr. are joining the fight. The tiny Koopaling in his clown car is an interesting choice, but despite being in a vehicle, he seems to move similar to other flyers.

PSA – PlayStation Network Maintenance Postponed Due To DDoS Attacks

Update: Sony has apparently canceled the scheduled maintenance due to yesterday's attacks. The company posted a note on the PlayStation Blog, but failed to update its support page for the PlayStation Network. An update on the rescheduled time will be coming soon.

Original Story:

Normally we wouldn’t call out planned maintenance, but given the events of the weekend, we thought a heads-up is in order. The PlayStation Network suffered a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack that brought it down for the majority of Sunday, August 24. Today, Sony will be upgrading the service, an activity that was scheduled prior to yesterday’s events.
