Blasting Through PAX With Geometry Wars 3

Blasting Through PAX With Geometry Wars 3

After a hands-off demo of Geometry Wars 3 at Gamescom, we've finally had a chance to go thumbs-on with the twin-stick shooter. Sierra's coming out party is likely to delight fans of the previous entries, as developer Lucid Games (made up of many Bizarre Creations team members) looks to score a hat trick.

Our demo was an extended look at the single-player content, across multiple geometric shapes (spheres, cylinders, cubes, and a peanut) blasting enemies and building a multiplier for killer scores. After our last demo, many readers were curious about the two-dimensional play of the first two titles.

As we mentioned, that's back, and it's seen some improvements. Those maps twist and undulate, making for a visual delight. My fear was that they would feel bland after zipping around the blind curves of the other levels. Instead, the flatter planes present their own challenges.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Producer Leaves Konami

Dave Cox, who has been with Konami for 17 years, announced that today is his final day with the company. Cox's most recent high-profile projects were the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow titles.

Cox made the announcement via Twitter, but he does not indicate specifically what his futures plans may be. He does mention exploring "new opportunities," however, so it appears as though there is something positive ahead.

After seventeen years I have decided to leave Konami to explore new opportunities. Today is my final day with the company #endofanera

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Coming January 27

Deep Silver and Volition are re-releasing Saints Row IV on new-gen consoles to coincide with the release of the expansion, Gat Out of Hell. The PS4 and Xbox One game will feature all of the DLC from Saints Row IV, plus a few other perks.

Saints Row IV puts players in the role of the President of the United States, but your time in the Oval Office is cut short when aliens attack. The rest of the game has you exploring a simulated version of Steelport (the city from Saints Row: The Third), gathering powers and storming around like super hero. For more about the original, read our review.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected brings all of that to the new crop of consoles, plus the DLC, community challenges, and an improvement (though slight) to the graphics.

Johnny and Kinzie descend into hell to save their boss – with the help of some familiar faces, like Saints Row 2's Dane Vogel. Players can freely swap control between either Johnny or Kinzie, or team up together in online co-op.
