about X hours ago from

The concept of seeing your music isn’t anything new. Music players like WinAmp were a mainstay in the 1990s, creating visual depictions of the music they played. Harmonix wants to do that, but in virtual reality.

The company announced earlier in the week that it’s working on a project for the newly-announced Samsung Gear VR. Today, we’ve got some additional details.

Harmonix Music VR will ship this year for the new device, which uses a Samsung Note 4 for processing and display. The company says that the application uses the “Music Analysis Engine” to create the visuals that play alongside the music.

The Finish Line Is In Sight For Project Cars

Slightly Mad Studios has announced the release date for its community-assisted racing sim.

Racing fans can pick up the game on November 18 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The developer says that the Wii U version is still on track and will release sometime in 2015.

Project Cars was originally slated for a 2013 release on PC, and is notable for its approach to development. Slightly Mad funded the game with a Kickstarter-style fundraising period, but has also let investors decide the focus of development instead of just taking their money. Slightly Mad has also given the community additional access such as meetings with the developers and periodic builds of the game.

Microsoft Retunes Xbox Live Rewards Program

Microsoft has made a few changes to its Xbox Live Rewards program, which include a few new ways for players to earn credit for things they may already be doing. Most noticeably, each member is ranked by a series of stars, which is accompanied by a higher rebate percentage for bigger spenders.

Members who spend $150 annually will earn one star, which carries with it an automatic rebate of 1 percent. Additional stars earn a corresponding percentage point, up to a base maximum 5-percent discount. If you're a gold member, that number is doubled, meaning that you'll get 10 percent back on purchases made on the Xbox Live Store – whether it's through games, video content, or DLC.

Microsoft is continuing to host temporary promotions. Right now, customers who purchase three games on demand (at a minimum of $60 each) between Sept. 4 through Nov. 30 will earn 20,000 rewards credit, which translates to $20. Similar "punchcard" deals are in place for movie and TV downloads. Players can also earn credits for completing monthly surveys and by referring friends to the program.

Many had given up on the game, given that it was released in Japan back in 2012, and missed a planned U.S. release date in 2013. However, when asked about a Western release for the game on Twitter, the official Sega account answered: "PSO2 is still delayed. SEGA is currently working on bringing PSO2 to the West and will update as soon as we know more."
