Bungie Celebrates Destiny Launch With A Visit From A Fallen Ship

You may only know them as the first Destiny enemies we were introduced to, but The Fallen are much more than early game scrubs. These multi-armed menaces are space pirates and mercenaries that have taken root on the Earth and Moon. You (and your guns) will become quite familiar with them in the coming days.

Unfortunately for Bungie, it looks like the invasion has begun in Bellevue, Washington. A Fallen skif has landed outside the studio, and well… let’s just hope that the Destiny launch is automated.

NBA Live 15 Pushed Back A Few Weeks For Polish

NBA Live 15 won't be making its October 7 release date, but thankfully the game has only been pushed back a few weeks.

NBA Live 15's new release date is October 28, which means it will release alongside the opening night of the 2014-15 NBA season. According to executive producer Sean O’Brien, the delay was put in place in order to give the game its final bit of polish. O’Brien revealed the new release date in an open letter on easports.com, which you can read here. In the letter, O’Brien says the extra time will give the team the space it needs to let the game reach its full potential.

Though it is not stated in the letter from O'Brien, the delay may also have been put in place in order to release away from NBA 2K15. Prior to the delay, the games were scheduled to release on the same day. For more on NBA Live 15, head here and here.

Destiny Hunter Knife Looks Like The Perfect Prop For Throwing

Destiny Hunter Knife Looks Like The Perfect Prop For Throwing

Melee attacks in first-person shooters tend to be pretty mundane (no, we’re not talking about you, Gears of War). Whether you’re hitting people with the butt of a gun or thrusting your leg in an awkward kick, they don’t always feel quite satisfying. And then there’s Destiny…

During the beta, I spent most of my time as a Hunter. The knife melee was satisfying, but it was when I unlocked the ability to throw it (and thereby give my up close attack and a bit of personality from a distance) that I fell in love.

We’ve already started to see Destiny cosplay pop up, and this Etsy store prop from Gary Sterley Studios looks like it would make a cool addition for hunters. The listing says that the knife is resin with a cold cast aluminum finished. The grip is wrapped in cloth and the entire thing is 14 and a half inches in length.

The Future Of The Sims Franchise Hinges On Success Of The Sims 4, Says Maxis

The Sims fans have only just begun their latest adventure, with the release of The Sims 4 last week. There’s a long way to go before the next entry, as the franchise is known for numerous expansions large and small (The Sims 3 had 11 major expansions).

In a now-deleted comment on the official Sims forums, Maxis producer Grant Rodiek has hinted that the success of The Sims 4 will have a significant impact on the where the series goes from here. “We're not thinking about Sims 5. If Sims 4 isn't successful, there won't be a Sims 5,” Rodiek said on the official Sims forum before clarifying. “It's not all or nothing, per se, but something has to pay for 5."

The Sims 4 has been criticized for cutting a number of major features (among them swimming pools and toddlers). In our own review, associate editor Kim Wallace cited the game as a step back.

Here’s What’s Included In The Destiny Day One Patch

Destiny is out tomorrow (though if you have an early retail copy, the servers are live right now). Bungie has made some tweaks since the game was pressed, and the studio is rolling out a patch to make sure you’ve got the most up-to-date experience.

Included in the lengthy patch notes, Bungie says it has reconfigured the unlock order for sub-class skill trees, tweaked class abilities, and implemented a number of weapon changes. Each of the classes and all of the weapon types have been massaged a bit.

You can read the run-down (which you may not fully understand until you actually play the full game) on Bungie’s website. Destiny is out tomorrow on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. For more, check out our Test Chamber of the game’s early moments.

Ubisoft Bundles Up Freedom For Assassin’s Creed The Americas Collection

Oh say can you see? Ubisoft is offering up a bundle of three Assassin’s Creed titles focused on life in (and around) colonial America.

Assassin’s Creed The Americas Collection includes Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. The bundle will be available on October 28 (which you might recall is the pre-delay release date of Assassin’s Creed Unity - now arriving alongside Rogue on November 11).

We’ve inquired with Ubisoft about the bundle to find out if it will include the DLC for these titles. We’ll update should we receive a response.

Pokémon Shiny Gengar And The Mythical Diancie Can Be Yours Free In October

Pokémon fans have a lot of reasons to be excited this fall. In case the release of Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby in November aren’t enough, a new expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card game is coming, and the digital version is soon to arrive on iOS devices.

To celebrate, The Pokémon Company has announced a giveaway for two free, special Pokémon. First up is a shiny version of Gengar. From October 13 through 26, Pokémon X and Y players can get a code card at GameStop (Disclaimer: GameStop is Game Informer’s parent company). This Gengar comes with a Gengarite Mega Stone, so you can evolve it into a Shiny Mega Gengar in battle.

From October 27 through November 16, you’ll be able to get a card for a mythical Pokémon, Diancie. Once you have one of the new Sapphire and Ruby remakes, you’ll be able to transfer Diancie in from X or Y, find the Diancite Mega Stone, and evolve it in battle.
