Introducing Apple Watch

about X hours ago from

Apple's press conference appeared to be over after many of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus' functions were detailed, but the show went on when the message "One more thing..." appeared onscreen. That one more thing is the Apple Watch.

This wearable device is customizable, allowing consumers to pick out the wristbands and unit color. The screen can recognize the difference between a touch and tap, and supports similar swipe functionality to Apple's iPhone and iPad devices.

The dial on the right side of the Apple Watch is called the digital crown. It turns rotary movement into digital data, and allows users to zoom in and out and perform a wide degree of other functions. Apple's Tim Cook says "Apple Watch is the most personal device we've ever created." Along with communication and interactive functions, the Apple Watch offers health and fitness options, giving users the chance to "share something as personal as your heartbeat."

New developer Super Evil Megacorp took to Apple's stage during today's iPhone 6 reveal to announce a new MOBA called Vain Glory. This multiplayer game is developed exclusively for the new iPhones, and pits two teams against one another in a war to be the first to destroy the opposing base's crystal. Few gameplay details were given, but Stephan Sherman of Super Evil Megacorp says that the players are also battling for control over a beast (pictured above), that, once tamed, will help your team take down the crystal. EA Sports Removing Ray Rice From Madden NFL 15 Via Week One Update

The fallout from the leaked video of Ray Rice assaulting his wife has reached the gaming realm. Today EA Sports announced its plans to remove the former Baltimore Ravens running back from the game entirely via a week one update.

"With Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension from the NFL, he will be removed from Madden NFL 15," an EA spokesperson told us today. "This roster change will take place by this Friday."

Rice originally faced a two-game suspension for the February 15 incident with his wife in an Atlantic City elevator. But after TMZ released the full video yesterday, which shows him knocking out his then-fiancée with a brutal left hook, the Baltimore Ravens cut him from the team. Both the NFL and the Ravens claimed they had not seen the video at the time the original suspension was levied. Rice was charged with felony aggravated assault, and the courts assigned him to a pretrial intervention program that allowed him to avoid jail time. The couple, which has vowed to work through this ordeal, is now married.

ESL CEO: eSports Will Be Bigger Than The NHL

With the League of Legends Finals selling out the Staples Center and Dota 2 International watched by more than 20 million viewers, it's tough to deny the rising influence of competitive gaming. That's why you can't blame eSports League CEO Ralf Reichert for having high ambitions for his competitive gaming league.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Reichert laid out his plans. "Our honest belief is it's going to be a top five sport in the world," Reichert said. "If you compare it to the NHL, to ice hockey, that's not a first-row sport, but a very good second-row sport. [eSports] should be ahead of that... It's already huge, it's already comparable to these traditional sports. Not the Super Bowl, but the NHL [Stanley Cup Finals]."

To give you an idea of what kind of gulf there is between the two, take last year's Stanley Cup Finals averaged nearly five million viewers in the United States for each of the five games. By comparison, the ESL Intel Extreme Masters' finals drew one million peak concurrent users, and garnered 10 million unique views across the globe.
