Manuel Noriega Call Of Duty Likeness Suit Dismissed

The suit filed by former dictator of Panama Manuel Noriega against Activision over Call of Duty: Black Ops II has been dismissed. Noriega filed the suit earlier this year over the use of his likeness in the game.

Noriega, who is serving a 20 year prison sentence in Panama for crimes committed while he was in power, sought lost profits from the publisher. Activision hired the firm of Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP, to represent them, with former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani handling the case.

Activision filed the motion to strike the complaint in September, citing California’s Anti-SLAPP statute. This section of the law is specifically designed to protect freedom of speech in situations such as this. The publisher also pointed out that Noriega was present in a very small portion of the game as one of over forty-five characters.

Bungie Tweaks Vault Of Glass Final Encounter To Increase Difficulty

Bungie has just deployed a small patch for Destiny that fixes some “kicked to orbit” problems. It also tweaks the final boss in the Vault of Glass raid, Atheon, to make him a bit more challenging.

The developer says it has fixed two things related to this last encounter. Atheon can no longer be knocked off his platform. Bungie also fixed him so that he’ll randomly teleport three players “through the timestream.”

That sounds ominous. You can read the details on the update on Bungie’s website. Unfortunately, this update does not address the changes to exotic weapons (like the overnerfed Vex Mythoclast) that Bungie says it will be fixing.

Civilization: Beyond Earth Worker Unit Colonizes Lego Idea Community Program

We’ve covered the Lego CUUSOOO program a number of times before. Now, It has a less confusing name (Lego Ideas) and the same great crowdsourced voting system. This is the first time though, that we can recall a developer and publisher seeking to bring a brick-based video game asset to fans through the program.

Civilization: Beyond Earth developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games have submitted the recent release’s worker unit for community consideration. The in-game asset was designed by concept artist Mike Bazzell and turned into a Lego creation by senior artist Andrew Clark.

The kit was designed as a limited edition build for the team, but Firaxis wants to make it available to all fans. In order for that to happen, the kit needs to receive 10,000 votes.
