New Game Modes And Units In StarCraft II: Legacy Of The Void

The Protoss-based third and final chapter of StarCraft II brings with it several new game modes and a smattering of new units.[Except] In Archon mode, two players work together to control a single base and its associated units, allowing a veteran player and beginner to team up and divvy up duties like collecting resources and microing combat. Two players of relatively equal skill could go even further with the strategy involved, assigning tasks like dedicated scouting and base expansion, or teaming up to micro different squads during a skirmish.

In Allied Commanders mode, two players will select a leader of a chosen faction and take on an AI controlled army. It plays very differently from a traditional match, with new units and abilities becoming unlocked over the course of a game.New units? The lurker is back, alongside some others…

HERC – These new terran units can be used to counter the popular zergling and baneling army composition. They’re effective at tanking damage from most protoss ground units while other allied infantry units deal heavy damage.

Blizzard introduced fans to the world of Overwatch with a flashy cinematic, but the is beta starting in 2015 (with no specific timing other than “soon”). The game is playable at Blizzcon, and the publisher showed off gameplay and 12 characters, each with different abilities.

Additionally, a Twitter user by the name of Phil Bertino is revealing details about changes to units in the conclusion to the trilogy.

Additionally, there are new units, including the return of the Lurker. Players will also have access to an Arc Ship hovering overing the battle, able to call down massive attacks on enemies. We'll have more from Blizzcon.

Next Mass Effect Story Helmed By Halo 4 Lead Writer Chris Schierf

As part of its N7 Day celebration, BioWare is introducing some of  the names behind the next entry in the franchise. Here are the people who are writing, directing, and producing the fourth entry in the popular series.

Among the names is creative director Mac Walters, who sheds some light on how players will begin their new journey. “With Shepard, you arrived on the scene as a hero, and you were called forward from there,” Walters says. “For the next Mass Effect, however, we’ve been looking at more of a hero’s journey: how you become a legend and what it takes to get there.”

Walters says that one of his team’s challenges is creating a new hero that can stand alongside Shepard’s legacy. The writing team is being led by Chris Schierf, who was the lead writer on Halo 4 before joining BioWare to work on Mass Effect.
