Explore Dracula's Castle In Fan-Made Castlevania Board Game

After creating an original Fallout board game and a Fallout Monopoly set for his wife, Reddit user "XSimonBelmontX" is living up to his name with a custom tabletop trek through Castlevania. The board game pulls from all of Castlevania's lore, but the map is based on the castle from the NES Castlevania game. The set includes dozens of cards, character tokens, hit point chips, separate sets of dice for battle and movement, a curse counter, and a box that speaks to the NES charm of this series.

Along with monster slaying, this game allows players to collect experience, level up, and upgrade wares. It even offers multiple boss forms for Dracula. You can read all about the game over at Simon's Imgur page. This set cannot be purchased, and is one-of-a-kind.

We hope someone from Konami reaches out to Simon to give this detailed and beautifully crafted game a serious look. We'd love to try it out.

Versus Evil Brings The Banner Saga And Three More To PlayStation 4 In Early 2015

Versus Evil Brings The Banner Saga And Three More To PlayStation 4 In Early 2015

Publisher Versus Evil has announced a slate of four titles it will bring to PlayStation 4 early next year. Headlining the bunch is Stoic Studios' Viking-themed strategy title, The Banner Saga (our review).

The publisher will also be bringing Pencil Test Studios' Armikrog to the console. The claymation-style game will also be coming to PC, Mac, and Linux early in the new year. Armikrog was created by the mind behind Earthworm Jim and features voice acting from Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Michael J. Nelson (Mystery Science Theatre 3000), and Rob Paulson (The Animaniacs).

Kyn is a tactical title created by a two-person team in Holland. It also features Viking themes. Finally, Toren will make its way to the PlayStation 4 by way of Brazilian developer Swordtales.

All four of these games will be available at the PlayStation Experience. The event will take place in Las Vegas on December 6 and 7.

Our Take
There is a dearth of tactical games on the new consoles, so it's great to see The Banner Saga making the leap. I'm very interested to see Armikrog's claymation visuals in action, especially given the need to account for animations connected to unpredictable player behavior.

The Video Game Awards Coming December 5

December's annual video award show is changing again, dawning the new identity of an independent production called "The Game Awards 2014." Holding true to this show's history, The Game Awards honors 2014's best games, pays tribute to the interactive medium, and gives a brief look into games on the horizon.

Held in Las Vegas' AXIS Theater on December 5, The Game Awards is open to the public, and will be streamed on most game consoles and sites, including Game Informer. Tickets to the event can be purchased tomorrow through TicketMaster.

The show boasts an impressive advisory board, including Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, Kojima Productions director Hideo Kojima, head of Xbox Phil Spencer, and Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot. Valve, Rockstar Games, and other companies are also on the board.

New Battletoads Trademark Appears In United States Trademark Database

about X hours ago from

A trademark for the classic Rare franchise Battletoads has appeared in the United States Patent and Trademark database. According to the site, Microsoft filed for the trademark on November 5, 2014.

We compared this filing to other Microsoft game trademarks and noticed no significant discrepancies. The attorney attached to the filing, Grace Han Stanton, is an intellectual property lawyer in Washington.

Battletoads was a short-lived franchise that started on the Nintendo Entertainment system in 1991, before being ported to other systems, including the Sega Genesis and Nintendo Game Boy. Two additional home titles on 8-bit and 16-bit systems and an arcade game.

We've reached out to Microsoft for more information. We'll update should we receive a response.

Our Take
There are a number of reasons to trademark something, and not all of them end in a finished game. Even if Battletoads is making a comeback, don't expect it to arrive any time soon. And if it does get a reboot, it wouldn't be the first franchise Microsoft is working to revive for Xbox One.

ESRB Listing For Resident Evil Revelations 2 Reveals Possible Playable-Character Spoiler

Ratings board the ESRB informs people of games' content so they can judge whether it's appropriate to play. However, sometimes this information verges into spoiler territory. In this case it's for Resident Evil Revelations 2. Guess what? Possible spoilers ahead!

The ESRB listing for the game says, "This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the roles of an imprisoned woman and a father searching for his daughter on an island."

As Revelations 2 features Claire and Moira, it's possible that the father-daughter combo mentioned is Moira and fan-favorite Barry Burton. This might also be something that the game's producer Michiteru Okabe mentioned to us at TGS.

Nintendo Teams With Loot Crate For An Amiibo Delivery Service

Nintendo Teams With Loot Crate For An Amiibo Delivery Service

Nintendo announced this morning that it has teamed with Loot Crate to delivery 10 pre-selected Amiibo figures by mail. Five of the figures have been named, with the remaining half to be revealed later.

Mario, Yoshi, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, and Fox are included in the offer, which is not yet priced. The 10 figures will be delivered in three batches throughout the holiday season.

Subscription pricing and timing are not yet available. The Loot Crate website currently offers the ability to sign up to receive notification when details are divulged.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is out on November 21, along with the first wave of 12 Amiibo figures. Another set of six figurines will be out before the end of this year.

Our Take
Without knowing the pricing or the full lineup, it's hard to know whether there is value here. What I can say is that Nintendo is making a bold move outsourcing this. Loot Crate has a rapidly growing consumer base and the means to market this to them.

Especially if Loot Crate does something a little special for these bundles, this will broaden the audience of people aware of and interested in Amiibo. Even without the details, it's easy to see the wisdom of the strategy.

Where Is Our Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 Review?

Where Is Our Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 Review?

Konami and the Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 series are warming up the sidelines, waiting to take the pitch on the next-gen systems. Where's our review, then?

The game's online portion isn't available at the moment, and with the new myClub online mode replacing Master League Online, we want to make sure we play the mode and the rest of the game to our satisfaction. The mode makes agents and managers crucial to your success as a squad. Elsewhere, the title's gameplay is an interesting mix of the old and new.

Please stay tuned for our review, and sorry for any inconvenience.
