The outage is planned to begin at 8 a.m. Pacific / 11 a.m. Eastern and last four hours. Service should be restored at or around 12 p.m. Pacific / 3 p.m. Eastern.
The purpose of the maintenance is to pave the way for future updates. In other words, don't expect things to be different when you log back in. For more on upcoming Destiny updates, check out our coverage from earlier this week.

GameInformer News Nintendo Japan's website for Amiibo figures reveals a new bit of information about the figures. They'll only be able to store data from a single compatible game at a time.
The publisher has been touting Amiibos as having cross-game functionality, but that appears to be more limited than originally suspected. It isn't clear just yet how much of an impact this will have on their usefulness, though.
Right now, we only know that the toys store data from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Implementation in Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors seems to simply detect the presence of the figure rather than require them to save data.

Don't worry, game lovers. Just because 2014 is over doesn't mean that "year of delays" needs to come to a close.[Exerpt]
Sony announced this morning that Bloodborne, its exclusive PlayStation 4 title from the creators of the Dark Souls series, From Software, has been delayed. The title had been pinned to a February 6 release date, but now the developer has an additional seven weeks to finish.
"While development continues unabated, we would like our team to deliver the best possible final experience," writes producer Masaaki Yamagiwa on the PlayStation Blog. "We were gratified by the feedback and data we received from those who participated in our limited Alpha test. The extra production time will also allow us to better integrate these learnings."

GameInformer News Developer Matt Thorson is bringing an expansion (not DLC) to Towerfall early next year.
Thorson wrote on the PlayStation Blog, “We want to call this an expansion rather than DLC, because it expands the game in every direction rather than providing small incremental additions.”
Additions include more playable archers, levels, modes, power-ups, variants, trials, and more. You will find Trigger Arrows that work like remote mines. A final tower, Cataclysm uses procedurally generated levels to make everything unpredictable.

Conan O'Brien continues his Clueless Gamer series continues with his "review" of Assassin's Creed Unity.
Conan liked jumping off things and killing people, but doesn't understand the insistance on using British accents in a game that takes place in France. Oddly enough, Dan Jeannotte, who plays Arno Dorian in Assassin’s Creed Unity, actually touched on this when I had a chance to chat with him at Comic Con. You can find that interview here.
