PSA: Ubisoft Experiencing Problems With Its Online Services

In addition to its ongoing problems with Assassin’s Creed Unity, Ubisoft has acknowledged issues with its online functions.

“We are currently experiencing limited online availability with Ubisoft services including online multiplayer and website connectivity,” the company says via one of its official Twitter accounts. Unconfirmed reports have also emerged from users that Far Cry 4 is having problems related to its online services.

We reached out to Ubisoft earlier today to request more information about the online issues and various reports regarding Far Cry 4. We’ll update should we receive a response.

Blizzard Apologizes For Rocky Warlords Of Draenor Launch With Compensation

Blizzard’s latest World of Warcraft expansion is on the roster of rough launches this fall. Warlords of Draenor suffered debilitating server congestion and a distributed denial of service attack on its first day, causing headaches for players and the publisher.

Executive producer J. Allen Brack took to the game’s forums today to address the issue. While things improved for some over the weekend, the issues did persist for many others.

“The first two days of the expansion were not a great experience, with many of you facing high queues or significant gameplay problems,” Brack writes. “We worked around the clock to tackle the demand issues and technical challenges, and fortunately things started looking better on Saturday. While millions of you were able to get in and play over the weekend, with many already reaching level 100, others still ran into very lengthy queues, particularly on the highest-population realms.”

Game Of Thrones, True Detective, And More May Be On Xbox One Soon With HBO Go

Xbox One users have been patiently (or, in some cases, not so patiently) waiting for HBO Go on Xbox One. If an update to the app tile on Xbox 360 is any indication, we won’t have to wait much longer.

Tabbing over to the “Apps” section of the Xbox 360 dashboard reveals a new caption on the HBO Go app (as seen below). If accurate, this means that Game of Thrones, True Detective, The Newsroom, and many others will be accessible to subscribers on the Xbox One.

In June, Microsoft said that the app would be available before the end of 2014. We’ve reached out to the company for additional information. We’ll update should we receive response.

Hyrule Warriors To Welcome Twili Midna As Next Playable Character

The next DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors, focused on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, will be out later this month. In preparation the game's supervisor, Eiji Aonuma, has revealed just who is joining the cast.

Twili Midna is the character Aonuma chose to represent the game for its theme pack. He explains why in a post on the Miiverse.

“When I was developing Twilight Princess, I thought it was such a waste to let a beautiful princess like her only appear in the ending,” he writes. “Now Koei Tecmo Games has made my wish to see more of her come true.”

A Golden But Familiar Path

about X hours ago from

The Far Cry series, while generally being well regarded over the course of its three main entries, hasn't stuck to a particular formula when it comes to story or mechanics. Each game is set in a postcard-worthy open world setting, and allows you the freedom to approach objectives with tactics of your choosing, but little else carries over from title to title. That boldness of vision stops with Far Cry 4, which is content to riff of the successes of its direct predecessor. The setting and characters may be different, but the rhythms of the experience stick to a familiar tempo.

Replacing the insufferable dudebro one-percenter protagonist from the last game is Ajay Ghale, an American who returns to his fictitious home nation of Kyrat to spread his deceased mother's ashes. He doesn't even get across the border before being drawn into the civil war between the established dictator Pagan Min, a silver-tongued maniac who wouldn't be out of place hosting Project Runway or starring in a Tarantino film, and a rebel group known as the Golden Path, which excels more at in-fighting than it does inciting revolt. Ghale becomes the tip of the spear in this war for the nation's soul, single-handedly turning the tide in favor of the rebellion while its alleged leaders argue between ideals of progressivism and traditionalism.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Matchmaking Patch Delayed

343 Industries has delayed the Halo: The Master Chief Collection patch intended to further improve matchmaking. The game has been suffering from significant problems with its online component, resulting in 343 scaling back the playlists to funnel players into more populated areas.

The patch has been delayed for further refinement and to go through Microsoft’s certification process. “This content update includes a variety of fixes across the title, including Matchmaking performance issues, general UI and game stability improvements, as well as fixes for game-game specific issues in Halo: CE, Halo 2, and Halo 2: Anniversary, and more,” the developer writes.

The problems with The Master Chief Collection’s matchmaking have delayed the pre-season start for the Halo Championship Series. 343 Industries has been contrite about the situation, with head of Xbox Phil Spencer taking to Twitter to address the situation himself in response to user complaints.
