Destiny: The Dark Below PlayStation-Exclusive Content Includes A Quad-Barreled Shotgun

The Dark Below, Destiny’s first expansion, is due out in exactly one week. While you are busy scrambling to gear up to take on Crota, you might want to sneak a glance at what’s to come.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 players are getting a little something extra in their downloaded stocking. In addition to The Will of Crota strike, those playing on Sony systems will be able to return to the Black Garden on Mars and take on The Undying Mind.

Additionally, you’ll have a chance at The 4th Horseman shotgun. It has four barrels and a “return to sender” upgrade node that drops ammo right into the magazine with each kill.

Where Is Our Review Of The Crew?

about X hours ago from

The Crew is an ambitious game, laying out a map of America littered with races, challenges, sights to see, and missions to undertake. The game also requires an online connection (even in single player); allowing you to create race crews with anyone for co-op fun. The game just came out, but we're going to have to play it a while before we're ready to render our review.

Previously Ubisoft said that review copies would not be available to the media until launch day, so we're starting from square one just like everyone else. With so much content, it's going to take us a little while to experience the game for our review.

So far, we've played a handful of story missions, leveled up our car, participated in some co-op races with some complete strangers in our crew, and even explored a few sights around the country.

PSA: Some Xbox Live Services Currently Down

Parts of Xbox Live are currently non-operational. It appears that social features are affected, including friends lists and leaderboards.

The official Xbox website also seems to be impacted by the current outage. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for more information, as the Xbox Live support page, which is part of Xbox.com, is unreachable right now.

We’ll update should we receive more information. In the meantime, the Xbox Live Marketplace appears to be accessible, and downloads appear to be operational.

Splinter Cell Fan Film Explores Sam Fisher’s Early Career

about X hours ago from

The Splinter Cell franchise has evolved greatly since its debut on the original Xbox. Despite a change in voice actors and improving technology, one fact remains: Sam Fisher is pretty darn cool.

A new fan film from Atomic Productions explores Fisher’s recruitment into a new organization. The nine-minute short is extremely well-produced, with a well-edited mixture of action and exposition.

Next Halo: The Master Chief Collection Matchmaking Update Due This Week

In case you were wondering, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is still not working entirely as intended. 343 Industries says the next repair to one of Microsoft’s biggest releases of the year is due this week.

“The team continues development and testing of upcoming content updates, the next of which will specifically make improvements to the matchmaking system and flow,” the developer writes. “This particular update is on track for delivery this week. We will provide more details on the exact ETA, included fixes, and additional upcoming content updates in the near future.”

Microsoft is just one publisher that has been facing such significant problems that an apology to the community was warranted. Sony has been working since the October 7 release of Driveclub to repair that game’s broken functions. Ubisoft last week issued a statement on Assassin’s Creed Unity accompanied by promises of free DLC and a free game for season pass holders.

Threes! Creator’s Next Game Is Close Castles

Threes! Creator’s Next Game Is Close Castles

A lot of gamers lost several hours to their phone thanks to the mathematic strategy game Threes! Now the creator, Asher Vollmer, is talking about releasing another simple, but likely addictive title inspired by RTS games called Close Castles. You won't have to play this game on your phone though. Close Castles is coming to PS4.

Asher Vollmer says he’s working to make Close Castles a minimalist strategy game that – on average – should last only about three minutes. Players build castles on a battlefield and then send out their citizens to tear down their opponents fortifications. Vollmer teamed up with Dominique Ferland to create the game’s adorable art.

Close Castles is built for local multiplayer, and is set for release on PS4 (and possibly other consoles) sometime in 2015, so expect to hear more about this title soon.
