Deus Ex Universe Is Not An MMO, New Engine To Power Upcoming Titles

Eidos Montreal has announced a new engine specifically designed for PCs and the latest consoles. The Dawn Engine as it’s called is based on a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier 2, used for Hitman: Absolution.

Despite the heavy Deus Ex influence in the screenshot (and the fact we know there are more games in that series in development), Eidos cautions that there is nothing to be gleaned from the content. The purpose of the image is to show fidelity and detail capable using Dawn Engine (click the above image to see it at full size).

In the blog post introducing the new technology, Eidos community manager Sacha Ramtohul sets to assuaging concerns about a previous announcement. “Some of you have had concerns that ‘Universe’ meant ‘MMO,’” he writes. “Rest assured, it does not.”

Screenshots used to be the domain of video game marketing departments. But with the advent of screenshot technology on PCs and now camera mode features in console games, users are taking over the art form.

We recently featured beautiful screenshots of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s dark fantasy world. Today we bring you something a bit more down to Earth.

Jeremy Leon shared with us his Tumblr dedicated to artistic shots of Grand Theft Auto V’s Los Santos. These go far beyond the Snapmatic selfies with which the GTA community is understandably obsessed.

Danny Pudi Invites The Far Cry 4 Community To Make Maps With Exploding Dogs

about X hours ago from

Danny Pudi (Community) has been asked by Ubisoft to talk about all the weird things you can do with Far Cry 4’s map editor. It’s safe to say that animals were harmed in the making of this video.

The map editor allows players to create and upload their own scenarios. And, in case you are a little twisted, you can make dogs explode. Don’t worry though, they are demons and probably deserved it.

2K Sports Acknowledges Reports Of WWE 2K15 Lost Save Data On Xbox One

about X hours ago from

If you have been having problems with WWE 2K15 on Xbox One, 2K Sports is aware and has a workaround. Some players have been reporting that their save data has disappeared.

Until a fix is in place, 2K Sports suggests that players not idle on the title screen. “As long as you don't let the game idle on its title screen, you should not encounter this issue,” 2K Sports writes. “The team has determined that this won't happen on the following screens: Main Menu, My WWE, Xbox Live, 2K Showcase, Story Showcase, 2K Showcase Timeline, Options, and My Creations.”

Based on user comments, this will not restore your lost data, unfortunately. For more on WWE 2K15, you can read our reviews of the last-gen and current-gen versions. We’ll update once more information is available.

Hearthstone Goblins Vs. Gnomes Cards Available Early In The Arena

about X hours ago from

If you can’t wait for the December 8 launch of Hearthstone’s first major expansion, you might want to log in and visit the arena. Through some gnome tinkering and goblin meddling, the 120 new cards are available early in that mode.

Additionally, you’ll get your next trip to the arena free (provided you log in before December 8). Cards will be available for purchase (and ownership) next week. For now, you can start slotting them into your arena decks to see how they work with your old standbys.

As an added bonus, spectator mode is now live, so you can watch others experiment with the new options. For more on Goblins vs. Gnomes, check out our coverage from Blizzcon

This entry serves as somewhat of a reboot, and may touch on alternate timelines. Terminator: Genisys opens on July 1, 2015, and features the acting talents of Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Lee Byung-hun as the T-1000, and Matt Smith in an unspecified role.
