Papers, Please Crossing The iPad Border After Clearing Apple Censorship

about X hours ago from

Lucas Pope, sole developer of Papers, Please, has announced that his game will debut on the iPad after undergoing some changes to align with the App Store's content restrictions.

Pope tweeted the announcement, adding that the game had faced opposition from the App Store for containing depictions of nude emigrants through a full-body scanner at the in-game border checkpoint, with the distributor considering the depictions "pornographic content." After removing the full-nudity option, Pope stated that the game has been cleared for release on iPad and claims that he may appeal the ruling at a later date. Polygon reports that the game will be available for $7.99 with a limited-time launch discount of $5.99.

Papers, Please is an award-winning simulator that tasks players with guarding the border of a fictional country implied to be under totalitarian rule. The game's simple and tedious repetition intentionally set the stage for an emotional undercurrent – along with controlling the border, players must manage their time and efforts wisely to support their in-game family or risk illness, starvation, and death.

Mortal Kombat Developer Announces WWE Mobile Title

Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios has announced that it's working on a WWE mobile title called WWE Immortals for release in 2015 on iOS mobile and Android devices.

Phosphor Game Studios (who developed five of the games in Kinect Adventures) is assisting with development, and it'll be free-to-play.

No other details are available at the moment, and given that publisher Warner Bros. is teasing a run-up of features and news up to launch, it seems there won't be enough time to put out the game in early 2015.

Square Enix Confirms Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Coming To PS4

Square Enix has officially announced that the HD remasters of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, which released on PS3 earlier this year, are indeed coming to the PlayStation 4. The games join the recently revealed port of the PC port of Final Fantasy VII, which is also headed toward the PS4.

Final Fantasy X and X-2 will be available as a download or at retail for $49.99 in spring 2015. Final Fantasy VII will be available as a download for $15.99. Square says that both ports will include system-exclusive features, but didn't elaborate on what it has planned.

Our TakeI played FF X and X-2 when they came out, but haven't revisited them since. I was tempted to check out the HD remasters, since Kim seemed to love them, but I didn't get around to it. Even if the new features are only something obvious like the ability to stream footage, this could be the perfect time for me. I love my PS3, but I'm migrating everything over to new-gen whenever possible.

We had a chance to go hands on with Halo 5: Guardians last month, and you’ll be able to do the same at the end of December. While you’re taking a break from playing Team Slayer or Breakout, you might want to tune into broadcasts of other players to learn some tips.

343 Industries talked to IGN about its plans. The Halo Channel and Twitch will both provide easy access to some of the best players. There will also be shoutcast features, including rewind and fast-forward. More comprehensive control offerings are planned for the game’s fall 2015 launch.

When we spoke with the team from 343 during our hands-on demo, they spoke to us about how the game is built for eSports. Multiplayer designer Quinn DelHoyo told us that the game will feature seven different ranking tiers, with the top one labeled as “Pro.” The idea is that players can earn their way into the spotlight.

‘There Is More Content Coming For Battlefield 4,’ Says DICE

about X hours ago from

With the fourth (and previously assumed final) map pack released for Battlefield 4, fans of the title thought they had the complete experience. In a post on the game’s forums yesterday though, developer DICE revealed it has more in store.

“With Battlefield 4 Final Stand released, we hope and believe that you will enjoy it together with the rest of the game for a long time,” the company says. “However, there is one thing we want to assure you: there is more content coming for Battlefield 4.”

While DICE isn’t giving any details about what the additional offerings might be, it does offer a hint. “We’re aware of – and humbled by – the many requests of re-creating classic Battlefield maps within the Battlefield 4 universe,” the post continues. “Now we have a question for you: if a reimagining of a Battlefield classic map was to happen, which map would that be?”
