Bungie Drops The Banhammer On Players Using Modded Consoles

If you are a console modder who has been considering giving Destiny a go, you might want to think again. Bungie has revealed that a number of Destiny players have been banned for playing the game on modded consoles. Though the report didn't specify what exactly these players were hoping to achieve through modding, it does ensure they will continue to drop the banhammer on anyone who dares play on a modded machine.

"We routinely review Banhammer actions to ensure that they are applied accurately and fairly. A review of the bans applied over the last week shows that all of the affected accounts had logged into Destiny on a modified console at some point."

Bungie attributed its above quote to "The shadowy forces who protect the world of Destiny from shadowy activities," and while the developer is having a bit of fun with the announcement, the bans are the real deal. Bungie also assures players that as long as you play on the "boxes that your favorite retailer 'gave' you," you're gonna be just fine.

The Evil Within DLC To Release Early 2015, New Details Revealed

It’s been a while since we’ve heard what’s going on over at Tango Gameworks, and with good reason. The developer has been hard at work making The Evil Within’s season pass DLC. Over on the Bethblog, the developer finally spoke up about what we can expect from the new content.

As we laid out in our previous coverage, the season pass is comprised of three packs: two story-driven episodes centered on Sebastian Castellanos’ partener Juli Kidman, and a third that lets you play as the game’s already iconic The Keeper.

The Kidman packs are slated to be released first; the first episode, titled The Assignment, is due out sometime in early 2015. Part two of that story, The Consequence, and The Keeper DLC will follow later in the year.

This Week In Mobile – Borders, Battles, Baggins

It's been a big week for mobile gaming. The absolutely essential Papers, Please made its iPad debut, Hearthstone got a big update, and the Marvel heroes decided they'd rather beat each other up than save people. Let's dive in, shall we?

Tales From The BorderlandsDeveloper: Telltale GamesPlatforms: iOS
Price: $4.99

We’re not too certain why Tales From The Borderlands’ mobile release wasn’t closer to its console debut. Whatever reasons for the late release aside, expect Tales From The Borderlands to be pretty similar to its console counterpart, with the exception that you’re poking a screen now instead of pressing physical buttons. If you’re a Borderlands fan or just like Telltale’s narrative driven games, I see no reason why you wouldn’t love Tales. You can read Jeff Marchiafava’s thoughts about it here.

Borderlands Remastered Edition Listed On Australian Classification Board

Borderlands Remastered Edition Listed On Australian Classification Board

The Borderlands series caught the eyes of many a gamer last generation with its vibrant cel-shaded style, but imagine how good it could look with a new-generation remaster. According to a listing from the Australian Classification Board, that project could be on the way with Borderlands: Remastered Edition.

Here are the facts: A listing for Borderlands: Remastered Edition appeared on the website for the Australian Classification Board. According to that listing, Gearbox Software and 2K Australia are the title’s authors, and 2K is its publisher. Outside of that, we don’t really know what a Remastered Edition would include, but we can hazard a guess.

It’s in Gearbox’s favor to re-release the first Borderlands game as the developer places an increasing importance on the series’ narrative with games like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Telltale’s Tales From The Borderlands. That said, re-releasing just that first game, even with its sizeable DLC expansions, might not be enough for franchise veterans to double-dip. If Borderlands: Remastered Edition is in fact a real project from Gearbox and 2K, it’s possible that we could see Borderlands 2 and even the Pre-Sequel included to sweeten the pot.

Rumor: Sony Pictures In Talks To Make A Mario Animated Film

A series of leaked emails reveals that Sony's entertainment subsidiary has been pursuing a Mario Bros. animated film.

BuzzFeed has a full breakdown of the information contained in the emails, which were leaked after Sony suffered a massive security breach late last month. According to the report, movie producer Avi Arad negotiated a deal with Nintendo to make a Mario Bros. animated film and promptly began talks with Sony studio chief Amy Pascal via email, referring to the deal as "the mother load."

Michelle Raimo Kouyate, president of production for Sony Pictures Animation, was also brought into the loop, telling Arad, "Let's build a Mario empire!" In another email, Kouyate tells Pascal, "I can think of 3-4 movies right out of the gate on this. So huge!"

Ohio State University Researchers Will Use Kinect To Treat Multiple Sclerosis

about X hours ago from

Researchers at Ohio State University originally developed Recovery Rapids – a simple, Microsoft Kinect-based kayak simulator – to provide cost-effective physical therapy for stroke victims. A recent grant from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will allow the team to explore options in the treatment of multiple sclerosis, as well.

Multiple sclerosis (often abbreviated to "MS") is a degenerative disease that damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal column. MS affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide and manifests itself in numerous ways, including vision loss and complications in motor function. There is no known cure for MS.

In Recovery Rapids, patients control the direction of a kayak as it travels down a river, using the Microsoft Kinect to interact with items and the environment while dodging potential hazards like floating crates and other obstacles. The notion behind the game is to force the patient to use the limb affected with motor complications without the aid of their "good" limb – a form of rehabilitation known as constraint-induced (CI) movement therapy.

Watch The Skylanders Sing Their Version Of The 12 Days Of Christmas

The holidays are fast approaching, and people everywhere are finding ways to express their cheer in between panic attacks and night terrors about getting the wrong gift for that special someone. For the Skylanders, that means buddying up and singing their own unique version of The 12 Days of Christmas.

The carol starts off as expected; the Skylanders sing about the wonderful presents they’re to receive over the course of 12 days. One thing’s for certain, these guys are really happy they’re not enemies. About halfway through, however, the heroes let the holiday spirit get the best of them (too much eggnog?), and the song effectively breaks down into the Skylanders version of the pokérap.
