Duck Hunt Hits Wii U Virtual Console On Christmas

It's a Christmas miracle! Well, that might be overdoing it, but you'll definitely be able to play Duck Hunt with your family on December 25.

Nintendo just updated its schedule of Virtual Console games, and Duck Hunt stands alone on December 25. Obviously your old NES Zapper won't work, so you'll have to play with a Wii Remote instead.

Assassin's Creed Creator Working On

Patrice Désilets, who created the Assassin's Creed franchise at Ubisoft, sent out a newsletter today confirming that he's working on a new triple-A game.

The newsletter was sent to gamers who signed up the newsletter of Panache Digital Games, the new studio Désilets founded with former Ubisoft and THQ Montreal colleague Jean-Francois Boivin, who also worked on Assassin's Creed.

In the newsletter, Désilets writes: "I believe wholeheartedly that this medium we call "video games" can be a positive force for change in our society and that AAA quality gaming experiences have unmatched strength to achieve this. For you see, dear friends, I've always had an underlying ambition in my work: to move the world of games. It is with this motivation that I designed Assassin's Creed. I believe that, somehow, I succeeded in my mission.  This gives me great motivation, ambition and heart to continue the adventure.

Jay-Z and Beyonce had their hearts set on this Bevery Hills mansion – but Minecraft creator Notch ended up the winner.

This $70 million property has been the subject of a lot of interest, and until recently Jay-Z and Beyonce were told that they were the winning bidders. However, some last minute wrangling by Notch, including apparently brides in the form of "cases of Dom Perignon," won the day.

It's quite the property. Let's take a tour.

Hotline Miami 2 Three-Disc Vinyl Collection Oozes Neon

The Hotline Miami series has its aesthetic roots planted firmly in the 1980s, down to the DeLorean and hot pink carpeting. Further sealing the deal are thumping synthesized soundtracks that set a nostalgic aural stage to the madness. If you're into that type of thing, Devolver Digital is teaming up with iam8bit to deliver a three-disc vinyl set of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number's soundtrack.

The musicians from the original Hotline Miami on board for the sequel include Perturbator, M|O|O|N, and El Huervo. New artists are also involved for this entry, including Megadrive, Mitch Murder, and Magic Sword. You'll also get a download code for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number along with the vinyl set. Check out more details below and order your copy via iam8bit.com now before they sell out like the hot pink limited edition Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon vinyl soundtrack. Patrice Désilets Reveals Core Details On New Game

It's been a little over a month since Patrice Désilets, creative director of the original Assassin's Creed, announced the opening of his new studio Panache Digital Games. The former Ubisoft developer is still holding most of his cards close to his chest, but he's revealed the basic details for his game.

Before you assume Désilets will follow suit with other developers who've split off from big publishers, Panache's first game is not a smaller scale indie title.

"Indeed AAA Games, I believe in them," Désilets says in a press release. "I believe wholeheartedly that this medium we call “video games” can be a positive force for change in our society and that AAA quality gaming experiences have unmatched strength to achieve this."

Triforce Reveals $850 Batman: Arkham Origins Cowl Replica Statue

I vividly recall an episode of the 1960s Batman, in which the Mad Hatter is trying to steal Batman’s cowl. I suspect that Triforce’s latest might eliminate the need for Jervis Tetch to borrow Batman’s headgear.

The Batman: Arkham Origins cowl replica is considered full scale, with the entire statue (including base) measuring 26 inches by 23.5 inches by 24.5 inches. The LED lights on the mounting are designed to mimic elements found in the Batcave.

There will only be 500 of these made, and deposits are currently being taken. You’ll need to put down $212.50 against the full purchase price of $850.

Your Assassin’s Creed Unity Season Pass Free Game Comes With A Legal Catch

about X hours ago from

Ubisoft’s free game redemption site for those who purchased the Assassin’s Creed season pass is live. Once you identify which system you’ve played on, you can redeem one of six games.

Before you zip through the terms and conditions, there’s something of which you should be aware. By accepting the free game, you are releasing Ubisoft from liability related to the problems with Assassin’s Creed Unity and the devaluation of the season pass as a result of the Dead Kings DLC going free.

[Update] Lords Of The Fallen On iOS And Android Is A 'New Experience' And Not A Direct Port

Update: CI Games has responded to our request for more information about its recent announcements regarding the Lords of the Fallen franchise. The iOS/Android announcement has been clarified.

"I'd like to offer some new information - we're currently working on a mobile game that takes place in the Lords of the Fallen universe, which we're aiming to launch on iOS and Android in 2015," a representative told us via email. "It will not be a straight port of the game though, but rather a brand new Lords of the Fallen experience. More details on that are still to come."

As for the sequel that we reported on recently, that has been confirmed to us. "I can confirm that the statements made recently to the local Polish media at a press conference earlier this week in Warsaw, and mentioned on Facebook by Executive Producer Tomasz Gop, are true: a Lords of the Fallen sequel is currently in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One," the representative added. "The reaction from fans to the news has been tremendous so far, and we're eager to take on the challenge of improving upon the solid experience that has been created with Lords of The Fallen."

Permadeath Meets Prison Escape In New Far Cry 4 DLC

Permadeath Meets Prison Escape In New Far Cry 4 DLC

Flying the coop is no easy task on its own, but Ubisoft is ratcheting up the intensity tenfold. Far Cry 4's new Escape from Durgesh Prison DLC tasks players with breaking out of the big house within a limited amount of time and no extra tries.

The DLC stars Ajay and his co-op partner Hurk as they attempt to escape from Durgesh prison. The duo's weapons have been taken, they've been tortured, and finally incarcerated. The two must flee from the prison and across the land of Kyrat towards their extraction point within a set time.

Ajay and Hurk can enhance their odds of reaching the extraction point by reclaiming their lost weapons, acquired by completing objectives set up by Pagan Min. Whether playing solo or with a co-op buddy, you only have one shot to flee from the region while evading the enemy forces. Dying resets the mission, and the only thing players carry over between attempts is the knowledge and skill earned. Online leaderboards will also allow players to compare their best escape times with their friends.
