Marvel Vs. Capcom Spidey Gets Knocked Out In Marvel's Spider-Verse #2

about X hours ago from

Forgive the multiple comic book stories tonight, but this one was too good to ignore. Marvel brought together a number of different incarnations of Spider-Man for an event called Spider-Verse, opening up the door to all sorts of clever nods.

The premise is that the villain Morlun is hunting all of the Spider Totems across the multiverse. In response, the Spideys team up and fight back.

There have been jokes about Spider-Man’s broadway appearance in Turn Out the Dark, the old Electric Company episodes, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and (of course) an appearance by the Porktaculuar Spider-Ham. Today, we were made aware of the appearance of one of the many versions of the character that have appeared in gaming.

Square Enix’s Nosgoth Enters Open Beta On January 21

Square Enix and Psyonix are bringing the battle between human and vampire into open beta next week. Nosgoth, a free-to-play, competitive multiplayer title set in the Legacy of Kain universe arrives in open beta on January 21.

Beyond just being a team-based competitive title, Nosgoth offers asymmetric play. The humans rely largely on ranged combat, while the vampires close the gap quickly and rely on melee. One attack even involves swooping down on a human, lifting him into the air, and dropping him to his death.

We had a chance to play Nosgoth at PAX, and you can read up on the title in our previous coverage. You can also read a more in-depth analysis from earlier in the game’s development.

Here's Why The New 3DS XL Doesn't Come With A Charger (And Why You Should Buy An Official One)

Following this morning’s news-filled Nintendo Direct, we reached out to Nintendo with a couple of questions about the New 3DS. As you may have noticed, the smaller model of the system isn’t arriving in North America yet.

While Nintendo hasn't yet ruled out the smaller New 3DS forever, there isn’t any promise it’ll be coming later in North America either. Also announced today is that the New 3DS XL will be missing something important from the box.

The new handhelds will not come with a power adapter. For those buying in for the first time, you’ll need to purchase one separately. While you may find a number of inexpensive versions online, you should be aware that you run the risk of voiding your warranty.

President Obama Proposes Initiatives Aimed At Stopping DDoS And Other Cyber Attacks

Yesterday, President Obama announced proposals that seek to curb a variety of forms of cybercrime. The measure would revamp the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act to include cybercrime, including theft and sale of personal financial data.

The President’s proposal also calls for criminal prosecution to stop the sale of botnets used in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks like those suffered by Xbox Live and PlayStation Network multiple times recently. It would also give the legal system the means with which to pursue those responsible for initiating such attacks.

In addition to the attacks on online gaming networks, Sony Pictures suffered a major breach in December that led to exposure of confidential documents and emails. Earlier this week, hackers claiming to be allied with terrorist group ISIS took over the U.S. Central Command Twitter account.
