His studio, Otherside Entertainment, acquired the rights for their RPG Ultima Underworld, and they were starting work on a spiritual successor to the 1992 game. Today, they've announced a new name for the game, as well as a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the rest of its development.

The game's now called Underworld Ascendant. Neurath says his team will be providing new details on the game's features every week of the Kickstarter campaign, but here's the first wave of info, straight from Otherside:

Check out the pitch video below to learn more about what Otherside's hoping to do with the game. It features footage of the old game, as well as prototype gameplay of what they've been working on with Underworld Ascension.

about X hours ago from

Sony is still struggling financially, though its third quarter of the 2015 fiscal year brought some better news. The company has revised its loss projections for the year ending March 31, 2015, significantly, thought it will still end in the red.

In October, Sony projected a net loss of ¥230 billion ($1.96 million). As of now, the expectation is that the company will suffer ¥170 billion in losses ($1.45 billion).

Sony notes that PlayStation 4 shipments were a big part of the improvement, with 6.4 million units headed to retail between October 1 and December 31, putting life-to-date shipments at 27.4 million. An additional 1.1 million PlayStation 3 units were shipped worldwide, with Vita and PlayStation TV shipments totaling only 1.4 million.

This a pretty cool Far Cry 4 checkpoint. Turns staying alive into an unexpected QTE. https://t.co/W8tM5uzDTx

‘Big Tentpole Releases Should Not Be Annualized,’ Says Take-Two’s Zelnick

about X hours ago from

On the company’s fiscal third quarter earnings call this afternoon, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick offered thoughts about his company’s success. Of note was a recommitment to avoiding the annualization trend that is prevalent among publishers.

“I don’t think we think about pacing in a traditional way,” he says. “We have said that we think big tentpole releases should not be annualized except for sports titles.”

Right now, Take-Two has two annualized sports games: NBA 2K and WWE 2K. The company’s other major franchises, including Civilization, Borderlands, and Rockstar’s titles are on a longer lead.
