Godus’ Deity Contest Winner Has Yet To Receive His Promised Power And Riches

about X hours ago from

On a Sunday in 2013, our quiet day quickly became a bustle of activity as Peter Molyneux’s 22 Cans reached the end of its mobile Curiosity experiment. At the end was a prize for a single winner.

That individual turned out to be 18-year-old Bryan Henderson, whom we had the chance to speak with. Curiosity wasn’t the kind of game he typically played, and he had never played one of Molyneux’s previous titles (though he told us he was curious about Fable).

Following that brief conversation, we spoke with Molyneux to get more details about what exactly Henderson had won.

Dying Light Free DLC, Including Hard Mode, On The Way

about X hours ago from

Techland has announced that it’s working on some free DLC for its open world zombie title, Dying Light. The studio has heard that some of you aren’t quite terrified by the shambling undead or their nocturnal cousins.

A new hard mode will be implemented into the game. This amped up difficulty will make the already lethal night phases even deadlier, make living and dead foes more aggressive, and force players to focus more on stealth.

The first of the free updates will also deliver new outfits. No specific date has been announced for this content drop, but Techland says to expect it “soon.”

Pre-orders Available For New Sonic The Hedgehog Collectible

The Tornado Diorama, a miniature statuette of Sonic The Hedgehog, is now available for pre-order from First 4 Figures, starting at $299.99, and $329.99 for the limited edition. The collectible captures the iconic final scene from Sonic The Hedgehog 2, where Sonic is balancing atop The Tornado in the clouds, and Tails is flying the plane intently. The exclusive version has the added feature of LED lights on the rocket boosters of the plane.

The Tornado Diorama is hand-painted on polystone in high detail, and comes with a proof of authenticity card, so buyers can obtain the same model number for future pieces of the Sonic Diorama line.

This piece is the second product from the Sonic Diorama collection, following The Sonic Generations, which showcased Sonic racing on a skateboard. First 4 Figures has recreated other classic video game characters, such as Ganon from Wind Waker and Mega Man X.

Layoffs At Everquest Next Studio, Including Director Of Development Dave Georgeson

Last week, Sony and investment firm Columbus Nova announced that Sony Online Entertainment had been sold. The studio responsible for DC Universe Online, Everquest, Planetside, and the upcoming H1Z1, has been renamed. Now it seems, staffing changes are underway that reported see significant departure of talent.

Michele Cagle, senior director of global communications at Daybreak, confirmed the staffing changes in an email to us. “As part of a strategic decision to rationalize the business, Daybreak Game Company announced today that it will eliminate positions in both its San Diego and Austin studios,” she says. “This alignment of resources better positions the newly independent studio for future growth opportunities and developments, including delivering on its legacy of making top online games and establishing a solid foundation for future multi-platform success. These reductions will not affect the operation of current games and the company will continue on its mission to partner with its player community to drive the future and push the boundaries of online gaming.”

Dave Georgeson, who has led the Everquest franchise for over five years, has confirmed he is no longer with the company. In a response to an inquiry, he also confirms that his departure was unplanned.

Resogun Challengers Update Out Today, Defenders Expansion Next Week

about X hours ago from

If you’ve saved the last humans and are ready for more voxel explosions, you’ll be happy to know that Resogun is getting beefed up today. The Challengers update is free for all players, bringing a new scoring system and challenges.

Players earn challenge points by completing tasks on familiar levels that have new modifiers and rulesets. For example, one challenge tasks you with saving 200 humans in a single level, with every enemy dropping one.

The update adds a new feat system, that tracks progress across all of the game modes. These award challenge points when completed. Rewards are unlocked as you progress through the ranks. Photo mode also comes to Resogun with the Challengers update, along with a “human gallery,” so you can organize the fleshy meat bags you’ve saved.

Aerena Ditches Free-To-Play Model With New Masters' Edition

about X hours ago from

It's common to see game franchises going free-to-play, but Cliffhanger Productions is taking the opposite tack with its acclaimed turn-based strategy game, Aerena.

Aerena is a turn-based combat title that's earned considerable praise - but apparently this acclaim has not translated into sales in the hardcore gamer community.

Cliffhanger Productions Jonathan Riedle said, "We have constantly updated the game with new content and features as well as changes suggested by our very active community, but the single most consistent demand always remained the same:  A majority of the turn-based strategy fans who played Aerena on Steam were put off by the free-to-play business model - no matter how fair we made it. We listened to this and created a one-time purchase package that leaves nothing to be desired for a pretty decent price and re-release it as Aerena."

Destiny Player Offers Tips To Collect Every Grimoire Card After Maxing His Score

about X hours ago from

One of the biggest criticisms of Destiny is that its story is practically non-existent. The only way to piece together the lore is through “Grimoire” cards earned by playing (and only viewable outside the game).

A Destiny player and Reddit user by the name of “tilloucifer” says he’s reached the maximum Grimoire score. While the number could be higher, he says that glitches are getting in the way.

Despite that, he has provided evidence that he has most of the available cards, excepting The Fate of all Fools (an exotic weapon that is part of the House of Wolves expansion and made available to only one player early - that story is here). Tilloucifer’s tips include a way to access a House of Wolves cutscene early, suggestions for farming specific enemy types, and a warning about a glitch that prevents playlist strikes from counting toward targets.

Hitman: Agent 47 Film Trailer Doesn’t Try For Subtlety

Hitman: Agent 47 Film Trailer Doesn’t Try For Subtlety

My memories of playing Hitman games are of plotting out the best approach to my target, staying inconspicuous, and striking at the opportune moment. I am pretty sure that crashing a helicopter into the side of a building to take out a target inside won’t get you the Silent Assassin rating.

Thankfully, this is a movie, and Zachary Quinto running for his life from the spinning blades of a makeshift death machine makes for a great visual. In this trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 (with the titular character played by Rupert Friend), we learn more about the enigmatic agent’s history.
