Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain Announcement Coming Wednesday

Konami is teasing an announcement for its upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid V. The publisher posted a countdown on the game’s official site, with nary a hint about just what will be revealed.

The timer expires on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 a.m. Pacific / 9 a.m. Eastern. Coincidentally, that’s also the tenth anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’s release in Europe. That title, named by many as the best in the series, was first released on PlayStation 2 in North America on November 17, 2004.

We’ll have more on Wednesday morning. For more on Metal Gear Solid V, check out our coverage hub from March 2014.

Here's A Fan-Created Dragon Ball Z Goku Amiibo That Will Never Officially Exist

about X hours ago from

Nintendo likely has little interest in creating amiibos for many non-Nintendo, non-video game characters, but that doesn't mean fans can't dream.

This creation was posted by a user Spade21X on the amiibo subreddit and is another addition to the growing culture of amiibo modifiers. We collected a few of our favorite custom amiibos here.

The last Dragon Ball game to release on a Nintendo console in North America was Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo on Wii in 2009. There was, however, Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission 2 that released for 3DS in Japan last year. A new Dragon Ball Z game, Xenoverse released last week on non-Nintendo consoles. You can find our review of the game here.

Reader Discussion: Will You Be A Day One Virtual Reality Early Adopter?

When the consumer versions of Oculus Rift, Vive, Morpheus, or any of the other virtual reality headsets launch, will you be first in line?

It will be expensive tech, and there won't be a whole lot of software available initially, but those same cons don't stop early adopters from being first in line for consoles, computers, phones, tablets, or other comparable consumer products. Are you excited enough about virtual reality and VR headsets to be one of the unofficial beta testers? Or do you plan on waiting to see the reaction and for the price to drop?

I've expressed my hesitancy over VR in the future, and despite the technology getting a lot better since I wrote this opinion piece in 2013, my thoughts haven't changed much. I am, however, excited to see what happens when the creative forces behind the technology deem it ready for mass consumption.

Massive Halo Cross-Stitch Shows Master Chief Like You've Never Seen Him Before

Master Chief is a popular subject for the crossover of artists and video games fans, but I don't think Master Chief has ever been presented quite like this.

Shared on reddit by a user going by the name OkieCoder, they wrote alongside a picture of the cross-stitch, "5 months, 51,900 stitches, and ~792 glasses of wine later - Master Chief cross-stitch," the piece was apparently put together by OkieCoder's wife. Reader Discussion: Do You Dabble Or Insist On Completion?

Do you play a number of video games at once? Or do you insist on finishing a game before moving onto the next?

I hate not finishing games, but have been become more of a dabbler by working for Game Informer. If an important review game comes in, then I have to drop what I am playing and prioritize and finish that before getting back to the for-pleasure games. I am still insistent on completing games, however, and hate putting a game down without having seen the credits roll – I have just had to become a little more flexible in recent years. Grand Theft Auto is a series I often hear players put down before completing, which is why it is pictured above.

What about you? Do you finish all the games you play? Or approach video games like you would a food buffet, and take a little sample of everything?
