Classic Batman Story 'Knightfall' Is New Again This Year

about X hours ago from

In the first issue of Convergence: Shadow of the Bat, the '90s live again. Writer Larry Hama, who worked on Batman at the time, is creating a new chapter for Knightfall, one of Batman's most beloved tales, and the comic book series I frequently reference as a comparison point for Rocksteady's Arkham video game series.

This new tale picks up toward the end of Knightfall with Bruce Wayne recovering from his broken back. He's tasked to team up with Azrael, who has taken over as Batman, to stop a new threat. If you read Knightfall, and know how it concludes, seeing Batman and Azrael on the same team should be mighty interesting.

The force they are going against is also stripped out of the '90s, but not from Batman's universe. The unlikely duo battles the original Wetworks lineup from Wildstorm comics. I'm a little wary of this melding of universes, but that's what Convergence is all about. It'll be interesting to see how this Knighfall story affects the new continuity after Convergence ends. You can get your hands on this comic on April 15.

Sneaky Zebra’s Latest Music Video Features Cosplay From London Super Comic Con 2015

Sneaky Zebra creates music videos documenting amazing cosplay from conventions around the world. In their latest video, the duo turns their attention to the cosplay from London Super Comic Con 2015.

There is a variety cosplay showcased in the video, based on video games, comic books, and more. My favorite is probably the Joker cosplayer, mainly because he shows off some surprise dance moves. The most exciting shots come from Sneaky Zebra's use of the SyFy Fan Cam to capture 360-degree shots of the cosplayers, as well as the final scene of the video where they move through two long lines and every cosplayer gets to do their own pose.

This Papercraft Millennium Falcon Took Four Years To Build

Papercraft builder Bernard Szukiel began working on a papercraft version of the Millennium Falcon over four years ago. He used reference photos found online as his blueprint for this incredibly detailed sculpt, which is 38 inches in length, and 99 percent made of paper. Szukiel used fiber optics and LEDs for the lights.

Szukiel provided us with a few photos that showcase the incredible detailing, but you can find more at his website here.

Reader Discussion: What Do You Think Of The Mortal Kombat Guest Characters?

NetherRealm has always delighted fans with its brutal take on fighting games. Recently, the studio has been able to access some of film’s most violent villains, putting a Mortal Kombat spin on classic movie monsters.

Freddy Krueger’s appearance in Mortal Kombat 9 tested the waters, and the pairing was clearly a success. Jason Voorhees was announced earlier this month for Mortal Kombat X, and this morning we clued into the premature reveal of the Predator as another guest character.

With these cards on the table, what’s your take on the movie monster movement? Is NetherRealm headed in the right direction with these inclusions, or would you prefer these worlds remain separate? If NetherRealm were testing the waters for a horror-themed fighting game, is it something you’d be interested in?

Konami ‘Resolved To Develop New Metal Gear Title’

Earlier this month, Konami and Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima announced the release date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. In the context of that announcement, Kojima repeated that this will be his last entry in the series, a sentiment we’ve heard from him numerous times.

“I always say this will be my last Metal Gear, but the games in the series I’ve personally designed and produced: Metal Gear on MSX, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 3, 4, and Peace Walker, and now Metal Gear Solid V are what constitute a single Metal Gear saga,” he said in a video statement. “With Metal Gear Solid V, I’m finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid. Even if the Metal Gear franchise continues, to me, this is the last Metal Gear.”

Today, Konami issued a statement on the future of the Metal Gear franchise following the curious removal of Kojima’s name from box art images on the publisher’s website. The comment reaffirms the September 1 release date for The Phantom Pain and Kojima’s involvement “throughout” the remainder of the process.
