DICE Wants Your Help In Making The Next Map for Battlefield 4

about X hours ago from

In February, DICE LA began the Community Map Project which aimed to involve the community more in the DLC map creation process. Two rounds of voting have already been completed which has led to the creation of a new Jungle themed map that will be centered around a waterfall.

In the third poll, which you can check out for yourself here, DICE LA wants you to choose between three different map layouts. The winning map design will be further iterated on after it is chosen, but the rough idea of the map will remain untouched.

The community map isn’t the only new content on the way for Battlefield 4 as new classic maps should be available in the future as well.

Tomb Raider Reboot Marks 8.5 Million Sales Claiming Franchise Record

Square Enix has announced that the Tomb Raider reboot originally released in 2013 has claimed a third franchise record. The title already sold more on its first day and in its first month than any other game in the series. Now it owns the top sales spot overall, too.

This morning, the publisher shared that 8.5 million copies of the reboot have been sold across all five of the platforms it was released on. The title originally launched in 2013 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. A “definitive edition” arrived on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in early 2014.

The reboot will receive a sequel this holiday on Xbox One. Rise of the Tomb Raider will premiere on Microsoft’s platform. We continue to wait for concrete information about other platforms. For more on that title, check out our coverage hub from the March 2015 issue.

Xbox One April Update Arrives Today, Two Planned Features Remain In Preview

Xbox One users will have access to new features today, as the April update rolls out. Unfortunately, two of the biggest enhancements aren’t coming out of preview quite yet.

Networking issues have confounded a number of Xbox One users, as network address translation (NAT) errors have been interfering with party chat. The April update was originally supposed to include dedicated servers that automatically kick in if users have problems connecting peer-to-peer.

The public update was also intended to include the voice messaging feature. This was present on the Xbox 360 and users can now leave messages for their friends from Xbox One consoles. These are cross-platform, so you can send and receive messages across the two console types.

New Gravity-Defying Half-Life 2 Mod Out After 2 Years In Development

about X hours ago from

Half-Life fans have had to learn to be patient, since Valve doesn't seem to be in a rush to revisit Half-Life any time soon. Fortunately, modders have unofficially kept the franchise alive. A new mod called Transmissions: Element 120 was recently released, showing what a single developer can do with two years and a whole lot of dedication.

Transmissions: Element 120 is set after the events of Half-Life 2: Episode 2. The single-player story includes new models, locations, and visual enhancements. Better yet, it includes a new gravity weapon that lets players dampen falls and jump great distances.

Second Halo 5: Guardians Hunt The Truth Audio Log Available Now

about X hours ago from

Last week, Microsoft and 343 Industries unveiled two versions of a Halo 5: Guardians trailer with the Master Chief and Spartan Locke. At the same time, they launched an in-universe series of audio logs from the perspective of a journalist assigned to write profile of the Master Chief.

As we know from the trailers, John-117 might be a traitor (or at least that’s what Microsoft wants us to believe right now). The reporter, Benjamin Giroud, seems to be pulling at a thread that debunks the myth of heroism surrounding the Master Chief.

The Hunt the Truth website includes more than just the three audio logs released so far. There are documents and communications from inside the Halo universe (a narrative tactic the franchise has gotten right throughout its history).
