Gabe Newell Will Appear As An Enemy In Powerhoof Games' Crawl

about X hours ago from

Powerhoof Games' currently in early access title Crawl will soon get a very special guest appearance from the man behind Valve.

The whole process of Newell's appearance in the game began when Crawl artist and animator Barny Cumming made the gif you see below. That gif started picking up traction, so Cumming reached out to Newell to request official permission for his inclusion in the game – to which he agreed.

In his outreach to Newell, Cumming outlined some pros for Newell saying, "You will be the most powerful character in the game," and, "The transformation implies your more recent bearded look is actually your Super Saiyan form." You can find Cumming's full e-mail to Newell here.

Shovel Knight will be appearing on PlayStation hardware soon, and he's bringing along a friend.

Shovel Knight will be available on Sony's platforms on April 21, and Kratos will make an appearance as a secret boss. According to Yacht Club Games' David D'Angelo on the PlayStation blog it will require a keen eye to track him down, and it will be a challenging fight, which is pretty well confirmed by the collection of gifs below.

You can also check out the original Shovel Knight on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Vita trailer, which features a brief Kratos tease at the end below. You can also hear, on the PlayStation blog posting, a chip-tune version of the God of War theme, which will be used in the game.

Reader Discussion: What Unconfirmed Franchises Do You Want To See In Lego Dimensions?

Announced earlier this week, Lego Dimensions seeks to mash-up a collection of Lego universes with Disney Infinity and Skylanders-style toys. What franchises do you hope are included?

Franchises confirmed for inclusion so far include Back to the Future, Ninjago, DC characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg, Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie characters, and The Wizard of Oz. We asked you earlier what you thought of the announcement, but now we want to know who you think should be included.

We'll want to keep this discussion limited to franchises that have seen the Lego treatment, like The Simpsons above, which is a great option. There is also Jurassic Park, which is getting its own dedicated game soon, Bionicle, Minecraft, pirates, Scooby-Doo, Star Wars, and Avatar, just to name a few.

Up To 2TB Of Storage Coming To Xbox 360 This Year

The Xbox 360 will be able to take advantage of more hard drive space later this year.

Those who are part of Microsoft's update preview program can start using larger hard drives with the next update. Normal Xbox Live users will have to wait until later this year. You will also be able to use more than one hard drive, as outlined on Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's blog:

We will also no longer reserve space in advance on your hard drive. If you are using 16GB of hard drive space for games – we will only take 16GB of space. And just like today – you will be able to use two external drives at a time.

Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer Hilariously Remade In Someone's Yard

about X hours ago from

The original Mortal Kombat film from 1995 was one of the first video game based movies, and while it definitely looks hokey these days, at the time it was one of the best video game-based movies to hit theaters. Sadly, it still is.

It looks like movie focused YouTube channel CineFix took a weekend and reshot the trailer for the original Mortal Kombat movie from 1995 using everyday household items and some crafting skills. The results are impressive.

Weekend Warrior 04/10/2015

Jeff Cork is planning a video game themed birthday party for his son, and the rest of us are mostly still inching through Bloodborne. What are you up to this weekend? Let us know in the comments.

Kyle Hilliard (@Kylemhilliard): Definitely have TV catch-up to do this weekend with Last Man on Earth and Better Call Saul. I'm also thinking it might be time to dive into Bloodborne. Otherwise I've still got Axiom Verge, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Xenoblade 3DS that I've been slowly creeping my way through.

Jeff Cork (@gijeff): We're having a birthday party for my oldest kid this weekend, and he decided this year's theme was going to be video games. I've made a point of not nudging him toward games if he didn't seem interested, but I'm not going to pretend that this isn't a great idea. We're going to play a bunch of 8-player Smash, and I'll pick Villager until someone cries or yanks my controller out of the Wii U. Once the house clears, I might finally give Bloodborne a shot. It seems like I'm the only person in the office who hasn't played it yet, so I'd better get on it already.
