Paradox Builds Up 1 Million Cities: Skylines Sales

Publisher Paradox is celebrating a sales milestone for Colossal Order’s city building simulation, Cities: Skylines. The title, which was released just over one month ago has sold 1 million copies worldwide.

In addition to developing a healthy fanbase in its opening month, Cities: Skylines has attracted a large community of modders. To date, over 33,000 mods are available for the title via the Steam Workshop. For example, one clever tinkerer introduced a helicopter that players can pilot.

You can read more about Cities: Skylines in our review. You can also see the game in action in our Test Chamber.

Capcom Moves Over 1 Million Copies Of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate In The West

about X hours ago from

Capcom has announced that two months after its release in North America and Europe, over 1 million copies of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate have been shipped. This figure includes retail copies sent to brick and mortar and digital copies sold through the Nintendo eShop.

In February, Capcom announced that worldwide shipments (including Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate in North America and Europe) had topped 3 million. Given the overlap, it’s not currently possible to determine exactly how post-launch shipments have impacted global figures.

Capcom does note that this is the first Monster Hunter title to surpass shipment numbers of 1 million in the West. To celebrate, Capcom will be making a Monster Hunter 3DS theme available for free in May. This is in addition to planned monthly content drops, like April’s quest for a Sonic Palico costume.

Director Michelle MacLaren Steps Away From 'Wonder Woman' Movie

The upcoming Wonder Woman film, which is set to star Gal Gadot as the Amazonian princess, has lost its director. Michelle MacLaren, who has worked on episodes for television shows such as Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, and more, has reportedly left the film over "creative differences" with Warner Bros.

MacLaren was brought on in November to make her feature directorial debut with Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros. today released the following statement: "Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together."

The detailed reasons for the split are not known at this point. Wonder Woman is set to hit theaters June 23, 2017. There is currently no word on if this change will affect that date.

Reader Discussion: What Is Your Favorite Mortal Kombat Fatality?

about X hours ago from

One of Mortal Kombat's iconic touchstones has been it's end of match Fatality system, where players get to dismember their opponents in some gruesome, if not hilarious, fashion. There have been a lot of Fatalities over the years, up to and including the new Mortal Kombat X (read our review). What has been your favorite?

Despite all of the fatalities out there these days, one of my favorites is still Liu Kang's dragon transformation from Mortal Kombat II. Check it out below:

Destiny’s House Of Wolves Won’t Feature A New Raid

Bungie’s next big Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, releases next month and as we get closer to this new content we're slowly getting a stream of new details about this exciting DLC. Unfortunately, some people might not be happy to discover the new expansion does not include a raid.

Aside from not having a raid activity, House of Wolves will have a new cooperative mode – a battle arena called The Prison of Elders. We don't know much about The Prison of Elders, but if we had to guess, we'd speculate that it might be some variation on an arena-like Horde mode. Bungie promises to reveal gameplay of this new three-player mode on May 6.

Destiny players might also be excited to know that on April 22, the studio will reveal the new upgrade path for existing Exotic and Legendary gear. Then on April 29, Bungie will show off live gameplay of the competitive Trials of Osiris experience and its collection of end game gear.

Unity Announces Compatibility With Nintendo’s New 3DS

Unity has announced that its popular game engine will be adding another platform to its portfolio. Nintendo’s New 3DS, which features improved 3D, a C-stick for added control, extra shoulder buttons, and more power, will soon be able to support titles using the Unity engine.

According to Unity, thousands of developers studios and over 4 million developers use the engine, which currently supports PC, Mac, mobile devices, all three current-generation consoles, and the PlayStation Vita. New 3DS support means that developers will be able to bring existing titles to the latest revision of the popular handheld.

For Nintendo, this creates another point of differentiation between the older members of the 3DS family (3DS, 3DS XL, and 2DS) and the New 3DS and New 3DS XL. Currently, only one game is available requiring the new hardware: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.

Star Wars Concept Artist Stephen Chang Shares Visions Of Futuristic Flight

about X hours ago from

Stephen Chang has worked on Star Wars games at LucasArts for 7 years, and is likely working on Visceral's new project now that he's at EA, but his own personal concepts are much more down to earth.

Chang, an aviation enthusiast, has put together a set of futuristic takes on commercial airliners. Chang believes that future airliners will adapt more organic designs, and he attempted to reflect that in his designs. However, they also borrow heavily from real world technology. His concept of 250+ person airliner draws inspiration from NASA's shape-shifting wing technology, while the 40-person passenger plane above is inspired by the V-22 Osprey. Though these designs don't directly tie to Star Wars, it's very possible that Chang's personal style will influence the games going forward.

The identity of EA's new Star Wars project is still unknown. A little over a year ago, Amy Hennig announced her departure from Uncharted developer Naughty Dog and a new job working on an unannounced Star Wars title. Shortly after revealing her place at Visceral, Hennig also stated via Twitter that actor Todd Stashwick was joining her to help co-write the new game. Few new details have been given about Visceral’s game since Hennig’s announcement.
