Frictional's Chilling Soma Heads To Beta

about X hours ago from

The new game from the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent is inching closer to release.

Frictional announced the news on its blog today, and also revealed a little bit about what that means:

"So what does it mean? Well it means that we now have a build of SOMA that contains all of our desired features. There are still a few bits of art, a few sounds etc. missing, but the game is pretty much complete content-wise. We've sent this build out to around 40 people to test and once we start getting feedback in we'll discuss how best to spend our remaining development time. At this time in development there isn't much room to make big changes. If it turns out that something doesn't work at all, we need to figure out a not-too-drastic tweak that can make it work, or consider cutting it entirely."

Test Chamber – See Eight Mewtwos Unleash Psychic Chaos In Smash Bros. Wii U

For the first time in Super Smash Bros. history, a downloadable character has been added to the roster in the form of Mewtwo. To commemorate this occasion, we brought back our recurring 8-player Super Smash Bros. series to pit eight Mewtwos in a free-for-all brawl.

Join myself, Jeff Cork, Jeff Marchiafava, Ben Hanson, intern Jon Gregory, Tim Turi, Dan Tack, and Wade Wojcik as we all try out the returning Smash Bros. Melee fighter for the first time all at the same time.

Mewtwo is available for free to players who bought and registered Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS. If you're one of those folks, check your e-mail for a pair of download codes from Nintendo. Alternatively, you can purchase him for $3.99, or you can pay $4.99 to get him on both platforms starting April 28.

Reader Discussion: Have You Picked A Mortal Kombat X Main Yet?

about X hours ago from

I’m still digging into Mortal Kombat X, working my way through the story mode and living the Ninja Mime life. I’m still trying to figure out if I’m sticking with my ol’ standby (Johnny Cage, of course) or picking a new main.

Complicating the matter this time out are the different styles available to each character. For instance, Johnny’s A-List style allows him to charge moves and cancel out of them. His Stunt Double variation allows him to create a duplicate that can be fired using normal melee moves.

Each of the variants allow for different play styles, but also require different strategies. The game’s only been out for a day, be we have a feeling some of you have been spending quite a bit of time with it.

Destiny Patch Mined For Potential House Of Wolves Info

about X hours ago from

Destiny's new 1.1.2 patch has already been mined for data that may point to the contents of the upcoming House of Wolves expansion.

According to this Reddit summary post of data in the patch that apparently points to the contents in House of Wolves, the expansion will contain two social spaces (Queen's Bay and Halls of Amentet), a new strike on the moon called The Shadow Thief, three story missions, three quests, the mentioning of five PvP maps, dozens of ship schematics, and more.

We won't know exactly what's in the expansion until Bungie officially spills the details, and the developer has already cautioned the public against believing everything we hear about it. Back in February, David Dague, Bungie community manager, said of a House of Wolves leak at the time, "...anything you know about it can change. We have a team working on the experience in their own fancy room, and they have some exciting surprises up their sleeves. We reserve the right to overwrite anything you're looking at right now."
