Patrice Désilets' New Game Explores Mankind's Greatest Achievements

about X hours ago from

Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets has revealed his new game by his studio Panache Digital Games – Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

The developer showed off a quick tease of the project at the Reboot Develop 2015 conference in Croatia (clip from Eurogamer), and it ran through some of Mankind's accomplishments: our first use of tools, Darwin's birth, landing on the moon, and other achievements and monumental events from our species' history. The clip even pokes fun at Assassin's Creed.

More details for the project are on the game's official website, which reveals that Ancestors is a third-person "action-adventure survival episodic" game. Players will relive these high points from our past, but Panache warns that, "our civilization is one idea away from extinction or evolution."

Nintendo Hosting A Xenoblade Chronicles X Direct Tomorrow

Nintendo is putting its muscle behind Monolith Soft's upcoming RPG Xenoblade Chronicles X. The Wii U-exclusive will be the star of a Nintendo Direct video presentation tomorrow, followed by a special episode of Nintendo Treehouse: Live.

Although Nintendo isn't providing details on what they'll be showing, we have a pretty good idea. Nintendo hosted the third and final Direct for the game in Japan a few weeks ago, and the presentation focused on the game's robotic Dolls and its network features. Former Game Informer intern Justin Mikos wrote an extensive preview of the game based on that Direct, and it's definitely worth reading in advance of tomorrow's shows.

The Direct begins tomorrow, April 24, at 11 a.m. Pacific. Tune in here to watch it live.

Enthusiastically. The BioWare store is now selling talking Elcor plushies.

The plush is about seven inches tall, and batteries are included. They are selling for $30 on BioWare's online store.

Chewie Puts His Bowcaster To Use In Star Wars: Force Collection's Contra Minigame

about X hours ago from

Konami has put a silly little minigame in its Star Wars: Force Collection collectible-card game. Chewbacca gets his own chance to shine thanks to an homage to the company's own NES game, Contra.

It features nods to the classic game, including spread shots, spinning jumps, and behind-the-back sections. Konami says the four-level minigame is only available for a limited time, so if this seems like something you'd be into, you should head the iOS or Android marketplaces.

NECA Bringing Original Devil May Cry Figure To Market

NECA's new 7-inch Dante figure is based on the original vision for the character from 2001's Devil May Cry (don't be fooled by NECA calling it a Devil May Cry 4 figure), and it should be available any day now at select retailers. The figure comes with Dante's Ebony and Ivory pistols (complete with removable bursts), his Alastor sword, a shotgun, and interchangeable hands for different poses and grips. Dante features 35 points of articulation.

The packaging is mocked up to look like the original game box, complete with an opening flap to view Dante and his accessories. Like many of NECA's toys, this is a limited-run release that won't see a second shipment.

Destiny’s New Player-Friendly Upgrades Leave No Gun Behind

Destiny’s New Player-Friendly Upgrades Leave No Gun Behind

Bungie revealed several key pieces of info about the upcoming Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, today. The DLC includes a new social space, as well as a host of fundamental changes to the game’s upgrade system and economy.

The House of Wolves have rebelled against the Queen, and have scattered throughout the galaxy. It’s now up to the Guardians to clean up the mess through a series of quests and bounties. Bungie says these aren’t simple rehashes of past bounties, either. There isn’t any new raid content, but the studio says that endgame content will play out differently every time. They aren’t yet elaborating on how exactly that works.
