Minecraft’s Steve Gets A Female Friend, And The Simpsons Arrive On PlayStation

about X hours ago from

Minecraft DLC is slowly but surely expanding from Xbox platforms to PlayStation systems. The latest batch brings the Simpsons family and friends to Mojang’s blocky world.

The Simpsons pack includes Bart, Homer, Lisa, Maggie, Marge, and many other familiar characters. The good news is that since The Simpsons and the Mass Effect mash-up pack before it, other licensed packs might be on their way over.

Also announced today is the inclusion of a new playable character. Alex is a female avatar that has eight different variations (the same number as original player character Steve).

Konami Confirms Silent Hills Cancelation, But Series Still Alive

about X hours ago from

Konami has had a rough stretch lately. Confusion still surrounds Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima's status with the company. Now, the publisher faces intense scrutiny over the status of another hotly anticipated title.

Over the weekend, an alleged comment from director Guillermo del Toro surfaced that indicated his involvement with Silent Hills had come to an end. Following that, actor Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) indicated that the project was dead (though it was unclear if he was reacting to internet furor or if there are more details of which he is aware). This followed an announcement that the playable trailer for the game (P.T.) will be removed from the PlayStation Store.

"P.T. is being pulled from the PS store since it was created as a playable teaser for 'Silent Hills', but the distribution period and license usage within the demo have both now expired," a company representative told us via email. "Also, in response to what Del Toro said during the Q&A, Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic 'Silent Hills' project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued."

Reader Discussion: Should Call Of Duty Keep Looking To The Future? Or Recall The Past?

Reader Discussion: Should Call Of Duty Keep Looking To The Future? Or Recall The Past?

Between Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, and Black Ops III, Call of Duty has found comfortable footing in the future. Are you comfortable with that?

It seems so long ago now that we were complaining about there being too World War II shooters on the market. For a period of time, it seemed like if you were playing a first-person shooter, it took place in World War II, and you were not allowed to question it. Now, the franchise that found its footing in historical warfare, takes place exclusively in the future.

Do you like it? Do you want future Call of Duty explore historical warfare again? Or have you grown too attached to jetpacks and super jumps?

Grand Theft Auto V Modders Give Whales A Chance At City Life

GTA V is in the hands of PC players which means we're going to be getting a lot of weird mods and strange videos. Here's one starring the largest mammal on Earth.

Fed up, presumably, with all the pollution and unlicensed submarine pilots exploring the bottom of the ocean, this whale decided to take matters into its own fins and his anger out on Los Santos. To do so, he recreates this scene from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy taking out cars, pedestrians, trucks, and just barely missing landing comfortably in a pool.

The video comes from YouTube user Merfish, who describes the video simply saying, "Truly a majestic creature." You can find out more about the mod that was used in the video by heading here.

Custom Keyblade Mashes Up Kingdom Hearts And Zelda

about X hours ago from

Sephiroths-Shadow on DeviantArt recently designed and crafted a Zelda keyblade.

You can see some close-up images of the finished blade above, but Sephiroths-Shadow has the full creation process posted on their DeviantArt and Facebook page. Sephiroths-Shadow is calling the blade, The Guardian of Hyrule. Here are some more details about the keybalde, which took about two weeks to make.

The keyblade is entirely composed of MDF except for the green deer skin wrapping the handle. The pieces were cut out with a jigsaw and hand carved with a knife and assorted wood working tools. The total length is exactly 4 feet not including the keychain and it took about two weeks to finish. That includes coming up with the design, cutting and carving, and then painting.

Rumor:

Speaking at an event in San Francisco yesterday, Guillermo del Toro reportedly said that Silent Hills is no longer going to happen.

"It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart." -Guillermo del Toro on #SilentHills. #sfff #sffs #sffilmfest #fb

The disappointing quote from del Toro comes from Matt Hackney on twitter who was attending the event and tweeted what you see above. The report says that del Toro told the crowd, when asked about Silent Hills, "It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart."
