The Witcher 3 Patch Halts Quest Experience Gain For Some On PS4

The Witcher 3 Patch Halts Quest Experience Gain For Some On PS4

If you gleefully installed the 1.03 patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PlayStation 4, you may have discovered a nasty surprise. Some players are reporting that the update has crippled their ability to earn experience from quests.

The good news is that CD Projekt Red is aware of the issue. The bad news is that just as with any patch, the problem needs to be found and fixed and then the update needs to go through certification. A CD Projekt Red employee responded in the forums that the team has located the problem and is working on repairs.

There's no sense of when those might come through, or if we'll have to wait for the next full update in order to see resolution. Note that if you are more than six levels higher than the quest suggests, you won't be due experience (so if you are just noticing that, it's design rather than a bug).

Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC Is Now Cross-Buy In The Same Console Family

BioWare is addressing a subset of its audience that might be considering both a console upgrade and a double-dip on its latest title. For those individuals, the studio and publisher EA have made the DLC cross-buy.

If you decide to purchase Jaws of Hakkon on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you'll also be getting it on Xbox One or PlayStation 4. This only works within the same console family.

So, if you decide to upgrade from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, your DLC won't need to be repurchased. You will, of course, need to get a new copy of the core game.

June Xbox Games With Gold Include Two From Square Enix And Double Fine's Latest

Microsoft has announced the June Xbox Live Games with Gold titles. Two solid Xbox 360 titles are joined by a brand new Xbox One game.

On Xbox 360, Microsoft is giving you a chance to catch up with Rico Rodriguez. Just Cause 2 is the first title of the month, available June 1 through June 15.

Molyneux Shifts To Creative Director Role As 22Cans Promotes New CEO

Peter Molyneux is stepping away from the CEO position at his 22Cans studio, handing over the reins to the company's executive director, Simon Phillips. According to Phillips, the leadership change will give Molyneux more time to focus on the creative side of the business.

The studio's most recent game, Godus, was a god-style game that took broad inspiration from Molyneux's classic Populous. When it released, it was lacking many of the features that were promised in its Kickstarter pitch, something that Molyneux and the studio acknowledged and apologized for.

Philips says that now that Molyneux doesn't have to focus on managing the business as a whole, he can now help steer the team to get them back on track creatively. That includes wrapping up development on Godus as well as working on their new project, The Trail.

Capcom Acknowledges Severe Ultra Street Fighter IV Problems, Pulls Game From Tournament

Ultra Street Fighter IV is out this week on PlayStation 4, and at $25 it sounds like a good deal. The game runs at 1080p and 60 frames per second, corrects input lag from previous versions, and includes all previously released DLC. It would be an easy sell to fans, if it didn't have so many problems.

Some of the issues include stuttering and flickering (reminiscent of the 8-bit ang 16-bit days), sound problems, graphics glitches for some moves (including Guile's Sonic Boom), and more. EventHubs has a gallery of some of the worst offenders.

As a result, Capcom issued a statement acknowledging the problems. The company is working on a patch, but because of the issues has pulled the game from its own tournament, the Capcom Pro Tour.

No Companion App For Assassin's Creed Syndicate

No Companion App For Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Ubisoft has seemingly heard the hue and cry over Assassin's Creed Unity's companion app, and axed the functionality from this fall's AC Syndicate.

Eurogamer has received confirmation from Ubisoft that this year's AC Syndicate title will not have a companion app – the first game in the series not to have one in a while. Unity had a companion app, but its exclusive content via chests was eventually made available to everyone through a post-release patch.

"...The team wanted to focus all their efforts on the core experience," a spokesperson told the website.

Report: Need For Speed Coming In November & Other Details

According to a now-defunct link from the Xbox store, EA apparently plans to release the Need for Speed reboot in the thick of the holiday gaming season.

A Reddit post from "lipeeeeee" has a cut-and-paste text description of EA's recently announced Need for Speed title being developed by Ghost Games, with a release date of November 3.

The listing (the link for which is now a dead end) also talks about "5 unique ways to play, Speed, Style, Build, Crew, and Outlaw." However, it's unknown if these are actual modes in the title, although the text says these ways of playing will build your reputation. The reported blurb says NFS takes place in the West Coast setting of Ventura Bay, which has canyons, a harbor, and a downtown, and that the game features overlapping stories.
