WB Games Announces DC Comics MOBA Infinite Crisis To Close In August

WB Games has announced that it is ending its DC Comics MOBA, Infinite Crisis. The news was shared on the game's official website.

A statement from WB Games says that the Turbine-developed title will remain active until mid-August and completely free to play. "After much deliberation, we regret to announce the official shutdown of Infinite Crisis," the company says. "We will end development efforts today and will close the service on August 14, 2015. This was an extremely difficult decision to make. On behalf of the entire Infinite Crisis team we want to thank all of you for your feedback, support and for joining together to create one of the best communities in gaming."

WB is the latest major publisher to pull the plug on an unsuccessful MOBA. EA ceased development on Dawngate in 2014, and worked to place employees of developer Waystone in other roles throughout the company.

Final Fantasy Type-0 Is Coming To PC Via Steam

Final Fantasy Type-0 made its way from PSP to contemporary living room consoles earlier this year to mixed reviews. If you're a PC player whose interest was piqued by the title though, you'll have an opportunity to weigh in on it for yourself.

Earlier today, Square Enix announced via the Final Fantasy Twitter account that Type-0 will be coming to PC via Steam. No release date has been announced yet.

Type-0 will join a number of recent titles that Square Enix has ported to PC. These include Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, and a number of older Final Fantasy games.

The Legend of Zelda To Be Played At 2015 Nintendo World Championships

With E3 2015 coming at us fast, Nintendo is continuing to give information about its 2015 Nintendo World Championships, which will be held during the expo. The event, which is happening 25 years after the Nintendo World Championships in 1990, will feature 16 of the best Nintendo players coming together to compete.

Today, Nintendo announced that the original Legend of Zelda will be one of the games that the 16 finalists will be competing in. Nintendo isn't quite ready to reveal how players will be competing in the classic, instead instructing us to stay tuned during the event, but it would make sense for it to be some sort of speed run or off-the-wall challenge like what is present in NES Remix.

The Nintendo World Championships 2015 are set to take place at 3 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, June 14 in Los Angeles. Also that week, Nintendo is hosting its annual Digital Event on Tuesday, June 16, where it is expected to deliver lots of new information about its upcoming titles. To learn more about Nintendo's E3 plans, you can check out the comedic announcement of the 2015 Nintendo World Championships here.

Play As Boss-Turned-Hero Quint In Fan-Made Mega Man Spinoff

A Mega Man mega fan has created a spinoff game that you can play for free right now.

A fan by the username of ACESpark posted Quint's Revenge in Sprites Inc.'s forum, along with a backstory explanation of why Quint, a former opponent of Mega Man, is now hunting down Wily's bosses (it has something to do with a predestination paradox but who cares, it's a video game!). Quint has a variety of abilities at his disposal, including a Sonic Dash, Dash Jump, Ledge Jump, Magnetic Gloves, and the highly coveted ability to duck.

ACESpark says that Quint's Revenge is the length of a standard Mega Man game, featuring 8 Robot Masters, 6 Fortress stages, and an intro stage. You can download it for free at the link below.

Thimbleweed Park Gets Even More Retro Thanks To Monkey Island Artist

Thimbleweed Park Gets Even More Retro Thanks To Monkey Island Artist

Last year, Maniac Mansion creators Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick turned to Kickstarter in hopes of funding a new comedic point-and-click adventure called Thimbleweed Park. The duo's vision for an old-school adventure game was overwhelmingly successful, and today they announced the hiring of an equally iconic artist to make the game all the more authentic.

Winnick announced on Thimbleweed Park's official blog that Mark Ferrari has signed on as the background artist for the game. Ferrari worked with Winnick on the 1990 fantasy adventure game Loom, and created the background art for Monkey Island. Ferrari also created the creepy circus park above, which Winnick stresses is only a work-in-progress image.

The retro aficionados at Terrible Toybox are currently targeting a 2016 release for Thimbleweed Park. You can read more about Ferrari joining the team (as well as some of Winnick's fond memories of working with him in the past) at the link below. You can also check out the announcement trailer for Thimbleweed Park here.

Back Bard's Tale IV On Kickstarter, Get A Free Game

InXile Entertainment is turning to Kickstarter once again for its latest game and the developer is making it all the more enticing to back the project.

InXile announced Bard's Tale IV back in January, and is finally set to launch the Kickstarter campaign for it tomorrow. As a bonus, those who back it in the first 24 hours get a free game of their choice between Wasteland 2, The Witcher, or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (backers must choose the $20 reward tier or higher). The kickstarter will give a full rundown of Bard's Tale IV, but so far inXile has stated that it will be a single-player, party-based dungeon crawler with "dynamic phase-based fights as well as devious puzzles and riddles."

Bard's Tale IV is inXile's third kickstarter. Its first project, Wasteland 2, released to positive reviews, while Torment: Tides of Numenera seems to be coming along nicely.

2K And Gearbox Are Teasing A Battleborn Announcement For This Thursday

Over the past few weeks, 2K and Gearbox have been dropping cryptic images in the Battleborn Twitter feed. Until today, there wasn't an end in sight or a reason to think much about them. The image shared today changes that.

While most of the images have numerical signifiers to indicate the next image drop, today's piece of the puzzle includes a specific date: June 4, 2015. Based on the work of Battleborn forum members, we see that only one piece remains.

Welcome The Summer 2015 Game Informer Interns

about X hours ago from

New video game releases tend to dry up during the summer, which can make the entire scene appear rather dull from an outsider's perspective. From the inside the industry, however, there are few times in the year that are more exciting. With the huge announcements and surprises of E3 right around the corner, we're happy to introduce Game Informer's intern crew for summer 2015. These awesome writers will be helping us cover all things video games for the next three months as they further their knowledge of working in the industry.

Expect to see plenty of news, features, and more popping up on the website from Alissa McAloon, Christian Belland, and Hershall Cook (click their names and get to know them better by reading their introductory blog posts). Alissa, a fellow Midwesterner, joins us in Minneapolis with experience writing at gaming websites Twinfinite and Destructoid under her belt. Christian has traveled in from the East Coast following time spent pursuing the film industry and writing for several gaming websites. Hershall practically beelined to Game Informer from Spain, where he was studying abroad and suffering from a severe lack of video game access. We're excited to have these fine folks on board, so please extend a warm welcome!
